Can't say it was. Wild World had better text.

I loved the original Animal Crossing, but I'm kinda surprised at how many people disliked Wild World, huh. The new rotating view, portability and several other new features made that one really enjoyable to me. It was much easier to play in bite size, instead of having to turn on your GCN and wait for it to load (not that it was THAT long). Being portable means you can check it while doing a lot of other things, and that's what sold it for me.
City Folk kinda sucks though. I really wanted to like that game, but it didn't have half of the charm, for some reason...

City Folk sucked because it didn't add anything new to the game. Nothing in the City didn't already
exist in some form in the previous two installments, aside from maybe Kicks the Skunk, but even then all
he does is change your shoe color.

I never played Wild World so City Folk was different enough for me. It didn't suck at all imo.

Its not that wild world was bad.
problem with it was that it had nothing too new or exciting to keep me addicted to it.

That would be exactly why you liked City Folk then. I'm not saying City Folk was poorly made, It was as technically sound as the first two,
but It added nothing truly noteworthy that would pull players back in after two previous games.
Of course this is coming from someone who has aged a significant amount since the First Animal Crossing in 2002,
and I guess I just expect more from my games to keep me entertained. All of us gamers that experienced the first
Animal Crossing when it came out have had more time to analyze, and I suppose become jaded to reoccurring themes
in video games. I guess that childhood wonderment thing really can make a game seem so much more than what it
is.
I miss that, to be honest.

I can understand that, yeah. I'll be honest and say I think I have more fond memories of the original game, but honestly I'm pretty sure I invested more time into CF overall, ehe.
In fact I'm considering digging out the GC game and starting a new town at some point, when I get back into playing my Wii regularly and not spending my entire life on the computer lol.
It'd take quite a bit of getting used to I think but I've had an urge to do so for quite a while now.

It did add a lot of convenience (wardrobes wardrobes!), but I think what it lost was its feeling of mystery. It's kind of like what Zac was saying in the chat a long time ago about Pokemon and its mystery. It's as if the original AC was red/blue/silver/gold, but then WW was ruby/sapphire/diamond/pearl. They added some nice things and it's not like it was made poorly, but there just wasn't anything to really discover.
Whereas New Leaf looks like black/white and I'm all for that. It might not be particularly mysterious and new, but it'll still be fresh and restore my interest.

I actually like WW, it's just that the inconvenient inventory system really annoys me so I can't play for really long periods of time. Oddly enough even though I like AC better, I've played WW more.
I really need to go "beat" AC someday.
edit- I have CF and played it for about 30 minutes total and if I remember correctly I didn't like what I played.
edit again- I think I liked the Zelda-style screen scrolling of AC better, though. Having things arranged in an acre grid made them much easier to find in different towns. In WW I just kind of wander around until I find what I'm looking for.
I know that they had the top screen for the sky and stuff in WW but I hope they make the top screen the gameplay and the bottom screen an always-open map (that you can switch to inventory with a button press).

I'm pretty sure the top screen is gonna be gameplay this time around.
They are gonna wanna take advantage of the 3D screen. Not to mention that the Japanese version is called 'Jump Out'

I need to pop in City Folk again and play that in preparation.

City Folk made me seasick for some reason. The "Globe" view doesn't work as well on it, I guess.

I honestly don't like the globe view. I seem to be the only one though.

I dislike it, and it sounded like Vipershark was also not a fan.
