Quote:Excusing the fact that the discussions had here were about those topics in a general manner and not about how they're connected to the election. I don't know if you've read the thread but they were quite derailing.
I'd appreciate a less provocating manner in general in order not to cause any trouble.
I did - the subject is always relevant. Politics is a matter of societal and governmental discourse, which means that any issue, even if only tangentially, is fundamentally related to the subject so long as it has any bearing on human behavior on an external or an internal basis; this becomes doubly so when there is anything resembling a direct legislative impact.
In order to debate the subject of homosexuality or religion as it relates directly to the political sphere, i.e. "gay marriage" or "the role of religion in government" it is also necessary to discuss and attempt to discern the
reasons that one believes what they believe. For example, to believe that gay marriage is wrong is contingent upon a number of
other beliefs that ultimately inform that particular belief. Understanding and opinion are contextual: and for that reason, it is important to be able to discuss that context if any progress, if any actual development, is meant to be attained.
That is, after all, the point of a discussion. It is counter-intuitive to reduce it to simply stating a perspective with minimal context.
That's all I have to say on that matter.
The discussions were straying away from the elections completely and thus should've been had at seperate topics. They were quite disjoint with the actual topic.
That said, enough of that in here, if you have an issue with the moderation, feel free to contact staff.

The rich have to pay higher percentages on their taxes for every dollar above certain brackets, going up to a potential 35% tax on every dollar above $375,000 (this is the final bracket; there's staggered taxing on brackets below them, but I can't be assed to double check right now...)
You know, food for thought in money discussion.
This also ignores the many advantages written into the tax code for the very rich to exploit - things that anyone other than them have no choice of benefiting from. Capital Gains, anyone?
Really, my post was aimed toward Smithy's misunderstanding of our current tax system, so I wasn't going to bother with the specific details such as loopholes
To be honest this thread should be more or less a general politics thread than an election thread given that the whole hype revolving around it died some time ago.
That being said I understand Gizmonic's/Pretty Nier's point in the matter since politics in a nutshell is about how everyone interacts with each other.
