I plan on making a Mario sheet from scratch but I want some opinions from you guys first.
I've already got some of the basic animations sketched out but, I don't want to go any further until it's perfect.
Did Mario steal Luigi's mustache and decided to put it on his face?
I think mario's mustache needs to be fixed up a bit, if anything.
Yeah, Mario's mustache has a fair amount of tufts on it. Right now he has something along the lines of Luigi's mustache.
Another thing is that he looks blank and soulless without giving him some thick, apparent Eyebrows. (Maybe have it over his cap?)
I think Luigi went through Mario's wardrobe.
It seems a little long and lanky to be mario.
Heres an edit I came up with, I just recolored your mario and shortened another for comparison.
Mario would look even better with a wider head than luigi, since this style seems really lanky and with funny proportions

It's getting better! I played around a little with the palette, just to give you an idea on how it can progress in the colors
That's good but his overalls are too purple now IMO.
the second tone of red is a bit of an eye burn, play with the saturation, as is it almost looks like it glows.
I think it makes it more vibrant.
Feel like the eye brows are too thick, but it seems like you're going for a more "rugged" mario
I agree with the above post to be honest.
There's really nothing wrong with being vibrant, in fact I actually like it.
Far as criticism goes, Maybe a bit more Sel-out might actually do this sprite some justice in terms of shading. It might just be me being a bit nit picky but I think there is a little too much black outlines where they don't need to be to be honest.
@Sinkin That's abit too colourful for my liking but, I do like how you've shaded it.
So I had a go
i think the arms would look better if the muscles wore better rendered. also it looks like the face lacks volume somehow.
Added some more shading to the face and tried to define the arm muscles abit more. Any better?
