Hi everyone.
I'm looking for someone who can help me around these forums and this site.
But also can teach me spriting and stuff.
It could be via PM's (PrivateMessages), but also Skype would be possible. (no voicecall, no cam! Just the chat only.)
Also, we can become friends.
I want to learn spriting and about spriting.
And I also want a kinda 'guided tour' around the forums.

um

this is easy, make a sprite yourself, them post it in Sprites & Pixelart forum. Then, people will give you C+C to fix them and therefore become a better artist. We all are mentors, just do your first step and we shall help you whenever we can.
Well, that;s the problem... I don't how to make sprites....
I think I can sprite, but don't now how.
Open paint or whatever image editor you want, choose a 1x1 pen without anti-aliasing or anything else fancy, select a colour and go crazy. Don't be afraid to use references, just make sure you don't end up simply copying what you see Tongue
Ah, okay.
Thanks! Smile
Gors, not everyone knows how to do these things, so we have to consider that and just help them out. Wink
also idk what you mean about tour. you wanna know what each forum is for? well, we don't have that many sub forums, so, I'd advise you to just look around, and read the descriptions of each forum and you should get the idea of how things work. Wink
if you lose your way though I can go over each forum quickly if you want.
(also remember this forum's description!)

no matter how silly the question might sound to us we're still here to help people out so we need to not sound belittling about these things. Tongue

Read this, as it will give you a basic tutorial on the forums, where things are, what things are used for, and other general things about the tSR forums themselves. I hope this helps for any future questions about where you should post things~

Now I only need someone to help me out with spriting. Smile
Basically just open MSPaint, use the pencil tool, and select your colors and start making something.

Once you've done that post it in the Spriting and Pixel Art forum and people will give their imput and advice on how you improve from there.

As a warning we don't candy coat things, however we don't mean any rudeness or harshness by our words and we mean what we say to help you get better.

Okay, thanks.
But one last question: What's MS Paint?
If you're on Windows, hit [Win]+[R], type "mspaint" (without ") and hit [Enter]. If you're on MAC, use whatever image editor you find, the same applies to Linux Tongue

Here's a thread with more talk about MS Paint and I think there are some alternatives mentioned, too.
Mac has Image Capture.

I'll find out whats on Linux later if needed. (My roommate uses Linux, we are both at work right now so I have no way of asking him atm.)
I'm not sure if Linux has a default image editor, and it may differ between distributions. If you don't have one though, GIMP should work.
I have Windows.
So I need to use MSpaint?
you don't have to... but it's the simplest program out there, so it's recommended.
just open it, pick a default color like pure black just to start, and with the pencil tool, draw something small (I'd say go for like 50 x 50 pixels in size as to not be too difficult), like a simple character or object (this step is called sketching), and try to clean it by erasing pixels that make lines jaggy and stuff with the eraser tool. then, try to pick another color that is closer to what your object uses, and with the flood fill bucket tool, fill your object with that color.

have you ever drawn anything digitally, btw? if you have, spriting is pretty much like that when you're starting a sprite. the rest of it requires careful pixel placement, knowing how to pick colors, and lots more.

try that, and show us what you come up with (but make a separate thread for it here)! we'll guide you from there. Smile
