Can I do that in vsnes?

It's in the MemViewer, bottom left, between VRAM and ROM.

You can save the files with the diskette symbol. The image itself has a 8x8 pixels grid. You must enable that in your graphics program if you want to assemble the data from it.

Ok, I'm not going to bother with the ventilation system. I don't have the patience for that.

I guess it just has a lot of frames then? is it a stationary structure with set animation(s)? what I do is pause the emulator with the pause key, switch to animget and turn it on, switch back to emulation, and then mash the next frame button until the animation is over/all frames have been recorded (or you can just set the emulator to a pretty low speed and start animget if the animation isnt super fast or anything), afterwards you can use this tool with its image cropping functions to get all the frames from in the screenshots. some info on it is provided in this post and a manual is included in the .ZIP. if you need help you'll have to ask Previous though cause I've yet to use the cropping functions. just keep in mind it only works if the background is a solid color/same color (I think) between all frames.
uhh yea hope this post helps with anything at all.

Added a couple more sheets. Now I need an opinion.
Because of the time travel aspect of the game it's easy to confuse a lot of places (Especially when you get to 600/1000 when everything becomes really similar), so I'm thinking about adding the time periods to the icons. Let me know what you think.

I don't know the game but I would do that, yes.
but others' thoughts who actually know the game are more important, of course.

Thanks for the tip about the WRAM Deathbringer, that's incredibly useful.
Also, one thing I might consider trying to rip is the Pre Release version of Slash. He has different techs available and most importantly he has a scimitar instead of a katana. It shows not only in the background image on the wall, but in his hand as well.

Jetters, it's just a big boring place with three different layers and a lot of it is empty space, so it's difficult to fit together.

Good call, Tom. I forgot about that change completely.

ohhh yeeeeaaaaaa those kinds of backgrounds where you can't piece screenshots together because there's too much solid color between the different parts... been there done that with this sheet (see the Wily room at the very end). had to have Previous help me with that sucker. sorry I can't say anything else.
EDIT: also what does the WRAM do differently? VRAM shows what's on-screen and a little more, right? does WRAM load other thngs...?

That's what I was wondering too.

I have started updating the icons with a timestamp (hah). Should this be a thing, or no?

Depends as not all games utilize it. Sometimes it holds a duplicate of the VRAM, sometimes nothing, and some games use it as a back-burner (like a stove) of sorts.
For example, Contra III only loads a frame for current pose/s (since it is a two player game) in the VRAM for the player. In the WRAM, it loads most of the character's sprites (not the Mode 7, but it does load the bike sprites) and uses these for the VRAM instead of loading directly from the ROM. You'd have to check to see if it loads anything for a game, sometimes you get lucky.

Ok, updated the location icons... but it seems some of the times got miscolored somehow. Secret .gif files? Sigh. Oh well.
Also added a more complete Leene Square and Fiona's Shrine.
