It's one of those incredibly vague updates that creates a lot more questions because it's poorly described. In message boards with incredibly simple-minded users, some people have translated this information as meaning every standard attack leads into a finisher, which makes no sense and I have no idea why they came to that conclusion.
What I'd assume is either they got rid of them all together, it exists with a limited running time of the combo, or it exists and finishes once the comboed enemy is knocked back to a certain distance.
I'm pretty sure Mac's trailer features an instance of what Sakurai is describing in one of the early gameplay moments, I can't rewatched it now since I'm about to go to work, but that'll probably give us some idea since Little Mac appeared to have those kind of rapid attacks.
I was figuring that that standard A's that just do repeat hits have finishers on them.
This could definitely change things for Meta-Knight.
man.
waluigi confirmed for assist trophy.
nobody talk to me about smash bros. for a while.
Just because you try hard doesn't mean you'll make it into the battle.
TT^TT
first year of waluigi going
well, just like one would expect
...this is the Wii U
why do Waluigi's hands look like
that in 2014
If this was on the 3DS I'd understand but...
it's not
It is not the limit of the Wii U. Check out Mario Kart 8 and see Waluigi there. For some reason the visuals in Smash 4 are quite disappointing.
I'm pretty sure if you look closely all the Assist Trophy characters have equally questionable amounts of detail. Basically if its not a playable character it is not going to get good graphical treatment.
It's true. Even though I think everything in the game should have the same amount of detail just to be consistent.
By the look of it his face is just one solid model too, like he wouldn't be able to open his teeth if he tried. It seems like the same kind of lack of detail for each assist trophy. Mother Brain's brain is just a texture, for example, no real depth to it, and Skull Kid has the same gross hands as Waluigi, albeit with some articulation.
Still, I find it forgivable enough. Assist appearances are infrequent, and real gameplay is much faster paced and not played nearly as close as this. I personally won't notice the difference in gameplay, but yeah, disappointing all the same.
The teeth thing is a tad different, though. Even if his mouth never opened (It probably will though since it did in Brawl) it wouldn't be a big deal, because that's the expression Waluigi always has. He's like Wario, their teeth always show, even in idle positions.
His hand is less excusable to look like that. Even if they're always in closed fists, he should at least have individually modeled fingers. Modeled fingers are something we could do in the GameCube era, man. This is the WiiU...
And I know the WiiU is powerful enough do it. Olimar's Pikmin on the Wii had to be low-poly so that they wouldn't cause problems. Now, in Smash 4, they don't have that problem anymore.
In the end, it's just a Waluigi assist trophy, but it's still kinda weird

DK's fur in Tropical Freeze uses some kind of particle effect. Smash DK still uses polygons on his and it looks kinda odd up-close.
Pokemon in smashbros 64 were 2D and it wasn't a problem(was pretty funny Falcon Punching 2D chansey off the saffron stage). Even the pokemon/enemies in melee were lower in quality. Not a big deal. They are hardly on the screen long enough to matter.
Guess we won't have that Mario/Luigi Vs Wario/Waluigi Deathmatch this time around.
He could have had so much variety in terms of moves.
Also makes me hope they will reveal Wario next, though his original costume is the default one.
