I don't think the "You only see them from zoomed out" argument holds any water at all, really. You only see the playable characters from zoomed out, too. Why are they so detailed compared to everything else?
I understand more as a way to contrast visual elements. The elements the player can manipulate and control and should be able to keep track of on the screen (which has been an issue for a lot of games recently) is more detailed than its environment to keep the player's attention where it needs to be.
Because you literally see Waluigi for 10 seconds at best, if they want to cram a lot of content, those saved poligons in space can do a lot. A playable character is that, you play as it, it has more complex animations than just stomping and whatever and they HAVE to be good so that the players feel the game's enjoyable. A 10 second appearance isn't going to bother anyone, I mean, I never noticed how hideous the Little Mac assist trophy was in Brawl when playing
I noticed how hideous Meowth was, and I cringe whenever it shows up.
Ugh.
I almost forgot about that>.>;
The worst part about the Brawl waddle doo is that a simple texture tweak can make it look waaaaay better without increasing the polygon count or increasing the amount of memory it takes up in the game's data. People have done it. The fact that they left it like this is just pure and simple laziness.
I just realized, Waluigi's pic isn't up on the main site anymore. In fact I'm not sure how long it was, because I checked it on a different page rather than the main one.
Did Sakurai's post get so much flaming that they took it down? That'd be a bit harsh.
I honestly didn't see the Waluigi picture on the main site at all today...
Guys, obviously Waluigi will be both an assist trophy and playable character. If a Waluigi assist is called while someone has chosen Waluigi, you know who takes his place
