Nintendo didn't build the port in to begin with for a reason.

I do want to point out that, at some point, Gamecube controller compatibility is probably going to be obsolete for newer consoles. Eventually the older controllers might break down, too, so just know you should be prepared for that eventuality if you prefer the Gamecube Controller. There's always third party alternatives, though.

Personally, I've always preferred the more "traditional" layout of buttons, for lack of a better term. I don't like the bean shaped buttons on the Gamecube controller, and I like the buttons more or less equidistant from each other. Plus the shoulder buttons on the Gamecube always felt off to me.. I think my own controllers might get a little stuck there from time to time.

The pro of this adapter (assuming it costs less than a normal controller for the Wii u) is that I have more controllers for when I have more than two players. I know it's always a plus when you can reuse controllers from past generations and not have to shell out money for a bunch of new ones. The problem is the only thing this seems compatible for at the time is Smash Bros. I'd have no other reason for this adapter, which makes me feel like I DON'T need it. However, if they, say, released some way to make Gamecube games compatible (which I don't think is possible with the hardware) or release Virtual Console games that can only be played with the GC controller, then maybe I'd warm up to the idea a bit more.

I read your posts, you were just acting like a total douche to those who prefer using a Gamecube controller when playing SSB. No one ever said anything about refusing to buy the Wii U because it had a different controller. Plus, I actually quite like the Wii U's controllers. And no, I'm not an "illiterate shithead".

No one HERE has said that, Mystie, but to be fair to Gwen I have read copious posts of people who preach that kind of mentality. Granted, in the long run it is probably a minority of people in the gaming world who are that extreme, but people have said that, and they push it down your throat so much that it does get pretty irking.

No Gamecube controller fan here has really been THAT caustic. We're all bros here at heart.

Which is still leading me to believe you didn't catch that Mystie, because everyone else did.

EDIT: And kind of inline with what Tom just said, I've been with groups of friends, and we'd be about to play Brawl, but ended up not because we didn't have a gamecube controller and one or two people would always refuse to play without one, but we had enough wii motes and classic controllers, it was never good enough for them. So I kind of have a personal irk too I guess.

I know in the fighting game community, a lot of people shit talk while playing, but SSB isn't a fighter.

People can use whatever controllers they like for whatever game, sure I can disagree that using a keyboard for IIDX is a thing you should be using, but if people wanna do it, and can somehow pass 12s by doing it, not going to stop them, nor care because if thats how they wanna be good at the game then so be it.

I honestly feel that the people preaching for the Gamecube controller should try the pro controller or pro controller first. Also they shouldn't be afraid to change the buttons a bit in game. Now, if you need extra controllers to play with your friends, more power to you for having more Gamecube controllers around already. But the lack of a Gamecube controller shouldn't scare people away from playing Smash Brothers or buying a Wii U in any way.

Anyways, if he's going to completely misread everything I've said and then call me a douche and tell me I'm doing something I'm not, I'm not going to be polite back.

With that, if Mystie wants to keep going, he can bring it to PM.

If the port is going to be made for GC VR in the end, that's slightly better, but I still have my grudges with it.
