If he's commenting on how difficult it is to integrate them, that means they're being actively worked on and WILL be in.

the second ice climber mimics moves and has partial AI all other times (when the player is grabbed the other climber can attack the enemy grabbing you and the like iirc)
olimar's pikmin just follow olimar's movements and never his offensive actions, not to mention their size allows their models to have extremely low polygon counts
due to the amount of pikmin on screen i would put olimar + all possible pikmin out to be around on-par with the both ice climbers on screen at the same time in terms of processing power and i think the 3DS has a pretty good processor to run multiple complex AI objects (see: mario kart 7's CPUs)
How come they suddenly decided to break the tradition of naming each entry after a type of fighting ever since Melee? I mean, I doubt that's Sakurai's choice, since Melee and Brawl are only named like that in the international release, while in Japan they're simply known as Smash Bros DX and Smash Bros X, respectively. I mean, you can name them "SSB Showdown" or something and add a subtitle saying "Ultimate" and "3Definitive" for the WiiU and 3DS versions respectively and presto! You named your games! That wasn't hard, now was it??
... Sorry, I had to rant about it.
I think its more that Nintendo wants some sort of international consistency. Look at Pokemon X and Y, being released in as many places as possible at the same time instead of being in Japan for months before getting localized.
Unlike the previous Smash games, it has the general gist of "For Wii U" and "For 3DS" in the Japanese titles.

I'd much rather stick with Kerfuffle for the 3ds version thanks.
Speaking of kerfuffle:
I take it that this is the NSMB stage? If that's so I'm guessing it's like Mushroomy Kingdom where it side scrolls.
It's beautiful.
Also, I think it's a SM3D stage.

first picture that showed something new since a month, we're getting there.
love the way it looks
This is probably something no one noticed but me. The sound effects. They are exactly the same as the ones in Brawl. That's very disappointing to me because I was hoping for a whole new style of sound effects. Each Smash title up to Brawl had their own "WHAM" and "POW" to make each game seem very distinct. Even if they are new sounds, they don't sound very different from Brawl.
And if there's one thing about Brawl's sound effects I didn't like it was the audience. In Brawl they weren't nearly as audible as the first two games. And I'm not talking about the character chants I'm talking about their gasps, their applause, their cheers. Whenever I nearly escaped death in Melee the audience sounded like they were on the edge of their seats!
Oh well just a minor thing.

I think it's a mix of both SM3DL and NSMB2, actually.
And now it's simpley the Wii Fit Trainer's bellybutton laser attack.
Also, I believe the picture from yesterday was just NSMB2. Some of the elements in it were in SM3DL as well, but I believe that was more coincidence since SM3DL already has it's own stage.
Hey guys Sakurai just updated the site with Olimar. Check it out!
smart move,
great extra promotion for pikmin 3
That's good.
It seems like Olimar plays just like he did in Brawl, from what it looks like.
And people were convinced he wouldn't be in. Come on.
