Takamaru and Lip could be better fits for that role.
And they're also not as abysmally obscure.
Assuming Sakurai is the only one working on Smash Bros...
I don't have a wishlist at the moment, since I'm already stoked Mega Man and Sonic are in. All I'm waiting for now is Captain Falcon. Perhaps a second rep for both F-Zero and Metroid would be nice, but I doubt it.
I just want Miis or Waluigi. Honestly, only reason I want Waluigi is because we already have Mario, Luigi, and Wario.
Skull Kid as a new assist trophy:
I'm really glad new characters from older games are still being represented.

when i first saw this i freaked out because i thought he would be playable
but assist trophy is fine too, atleast he's in it. majora mask might be still my favorite zelda ever, even tho' it's just the last quarter of the game i love the most. also he's the first assist trophy to be revealed, that's awesome too. and what a fine model
really still hoping for a majora's mask stage, for the 3DS version for some extra hype.
Stone Tower would make an awesome stage. i could work like icicle mountain, but more slowly paced. climing up the tower until you reach the top, where the fight continues. then after a few minutes the temple flips
i mean it's like the most loved dungeon of all zelda games by far
Old game? Pft. Majora's Mask 3D is so obviously on the way.
Great ... now he's literally just mocking us.

seems fitting, with skull kid and all
yeah
I always fantasized about a playable Skull Kid, but an assist makes much more sense. Also he looks bangin'.
I don't see why anyone expected to have Skull Kid playable in the first place honestly. What did he do in that game that could translate over to a proper moveset? And no, having every attack drop the moon isn't a valid answer.
Thank God he's not playable. Still got no clue why people expected him in so much. And the same goes for Geno (I kinda wanted him in, but just because I like SMRPG).
Speaking of which, wouldn't it be cool if Geno could appear as an AT? I mean, since he'll never be playable, an AT would do.
What did Captain Falcon, ROB, Fox, Falco, or the Ice Climbers ever do to constitute an applicable moveset in their own games?
Three of them drove things, one of them was a toy that cotrolled doors and platforms at best, and two were given ice powers to compensate.
Skull Kid has demonstrated:
A - Musical proficiency in a world where instruments contain mystical properties.
B - There are darts in his instruments.
C - Athleticism.
D - Some form of teleportation.
And that's without Majora's Mask. Considering that he's wearing it, it opens all of Majora's abilities to him, including growing fucking tentacles and possible allowing for a Majora's Incarnation or Wrath transformation.
"He didn't do anything" isn't a very sound argument as to why he couldn't be in the game.
As to why anybody would expect him to be playable? I think there's kind of a fine line between expecting and wishing, and I haven't really seen anyone crossing it.
One thing I will never understand is all the love for ROB. It was a stupid toy for the NES that from what I've heard barely worked, and was only used in 1 (2?) games. Why he gets so many cameos to the point of being a playable character in Smash Bros. is beyond me. ROB is Assist Trophy material. I mean Mr. Game & Watch was pretty obscure but was actually really creative and he well represented an era of Nintendo. ROB is just...a robot...so he uses lasers and jet boosters!!! Like robots!!! Whoa!

Rob already showed up in multiple other games before Smash bros. to the point where he became a standard cameo for a while. That is the only reason I was fine with it.
