I remember that Zelda was announced like a week after Rosalina because that's when A Link Between Worlds was released in Japan, so...

Maybe they're waiting for Tropical Freeze to come out in North America to announce Diddy Kong? I dunno.

What I think I like the most about LM's reveal is that it went against what people (myself included) expected and didn't reveal a Donkey Kong character, but instead something nobody anticipated. That keeps people guessing and makes the reveals feel fresh and awesome. I'm thinking in a week or two we MIGHT see Diddy, but it'll probably be over a month before we see another newcomer.

However, that could be completely untrue as well. That's what I like about the Smash reveals they've done so far. There's not really a predictable pattern, though sometimes the announcements coincidence with the release of a game. That seems to mostly just apply to the vets, though, newcomers don't seem to have any pattern at all.

I'm pretty hype right now too. I: I actually can't stop thinking about Smash now. I'm at that point that I won't be sated until release day.

I want Doc. to do more than just be a voice in the trailer somehow too...

I could see Doc walking around as a more passive assist trophy, almost as a joke, where he gives the players helpful (or maybe not-so-helpful) tips. However, if he gets hit, it'll knock his chocolate bar away and he'll get MAD.

It'd be even more hilarious if the disclaimer popped up the moment you did so.

The timing of this was just perfect, if only for how it made Rock look just before the hit connects.

and when Doc is selected, Alphonzo will provided good alternative commentary instead

Wait, they could always put Doc. into one of Mac's taunts and make it character specific insults. It wouldn't be too farfetched to do.
