Also yeah, I REALLY think she'd be in Smash now.

There is a fourth character which is unrevealed.

My guess would be Kiddy then, seems like he has the build like DK appropriate to be the other "big" character. Though part of me still secretly wishes K. Rool was the fourth.

I was thinking Kiddy is the most likely candidate as well, but maybe we'll get surprised with K. Rool or the first sidescrolling use of Chunky or Funky... Maybe they'll introduced Lanky with a third playstyle, but I doubt it.

I bet the fourth character is a secret unlockable character. That's probably why they haven't revealed who it is yet.

I think it'd be kinda neat if Diddy and Dixie shared the same slot a la Ice Climbers.

Eh no. I'd want them to be their own separate character.

This game is looking fantastic, but I can't help but have one major gripe: from the looks of things, we still can't play as Diddy in single player.

Yeah that's kind of an issue. But I think if that were the case they'd have to get rid of some of Diddy's abilities like the Peanut Popgun or it would make the single player experience too easy.

So it looks like the DKCR will continue a trend of Donkey being the only "ape" type playable Kong and using the "monkey" sized ones as power-ups. I wonder what ability Cranky would utilize...

I don't know, it seems very unlikely.
He's just on the box art and mostly likely because he's one of the main characters, and I really couldn't see Cranky being playable, but it would be a surprise(kinda ruined now anyway).

I really doubt they'd have Cranky in an action packed scene among the adventuring Kongs if he was still just selling stuff.

Despite all his boasting, I don't think Cranky is likely to step out of his cabin to join the crew. Regardless of his mini game found in the GBA port of DKC3 and how he was a racer in Donkey Kong: Barrel Blast, an adventuring game is something completely different. Besides, if he ranted about not being caught dead in a game that has scrolling screens and bonus levels, we'll never hear the end of his complaining about being forced to participate in an adventure "on one of those newfangled HD consoles with a camera that moves all over the place and a significant lack of sprites."

I miss Cranky's rants.

Nah, that's his whole gameplay mechanic. He whoops an enemy upside the head with his cane and rants at them for a good while. And the goal is to do this for every single enemy.
