Even so, I think the WonderSwan Color or PS1 versions of the game have done it justice. Oh, no, I know what you mean. I meant, not JUST a port with extras. But a full-fledged remake, which, would definitely have extras. While talking about FF1, I have the GBA version, and I love it. The bonus dungeons provide an interesting feature for a game like that (even though, doing them makes you gain lots of levels, and get powerful equipment, more powerful than you need...)

I'd love to see an updated High Resolution 2D, Free Movement remake of Zelda 1, because the gridsnapping was bullshit. No realtime action game should ever have gridsnapping. Stiff and clunky movement in those sort of games makes it more ridiculous than it has to be (not that I've had any problems with Zelda 1, but it still felt way more stiff than it needed to be).
Well, the original game wouldn't lose any charm, because...it still exists, and is playable in multiple ways. But...I don't feel like modern Zelda gameplay is really restrictive. Well, my newest Zelda is Wind Waker, so...Still, I was thinking like Ocarina of Time, it still gives you a good amount of freedom and choice in the order of dungeons. I still think a 3D remake of the original game, would have more freedom than Ocarina of Time. That's how I envision it anyway.
-Tons of freedom in how you progress, in dungeons, items, whatever.
-Refined combat (the 3D Zelda games have awesome combat)
-Advanced item control (I mean, equip multiple items at once, like in 3D Zeldas)
-Epic boss fights (you know what I mean)
-Very little, if any, story added
And so on. My whole point with the idea is take the awesome parts of the 3D Zeldas and mix it with the freedom and exploration of the original game.
