You're just in time to take advantage of the new Submit feature on the site! It was just finished, and it's really fantastic, much easier and quicker than how submissions were done previously.
To get a good start, I'd suggest checking out the
Sprite Sheet Guidelines. (I was about to link to the
Submissions Forums for Beginners too, but that isn't relevant anymore!
)
Apart from that you may want to study the sheets on the site (especially ones from games you'll be ripping from, if they exist) to see what kind of stuff is accepted.
In any case, I hope you enjoy your time here and submit some great sheets!
