Looks pretty good for a fangame; the graphics style is true to the SNES and GBA games, and the engine looks well built. I just sort of wish they took a bit more risk into making it feel a bit fresh. For example, in the battle scenes, it'd be nice to have a "behind the back" view of the characters, above their status boxes, while they fight. Little things like that to make it a step ahead, yet familiar.

I'd dislike an over-the-shoulder perspective for Earthbound's battles. It works for other games, but I wouldn't like to see it here.

Just listened to the soundtrack of the game, holy moly these guys made the music even sound legit, here's hoping if Nintendo does see this, that they actually make another Mother/Earthbound game, or they promote this one.

Itoi won't make anymore Mother games (or at least he says so), so no hope on that.
Though this is looking pretty legit!

Oh wow! I remember last seeing this in May and they barely had any public info--The website and game look really great!!
I still wish I wasn't lazy enough to help out somehow though
I can't wait to play this!

Winter 2014 is a bit too long to wait, don't you think? Still, i do like to try it out once it's released.
Soundtrack's pretty neat, though.

Yeah, I hate waiting until games are finished before I can play them.

I think generating hype an entire year before is kind of irritating though. Especially since these look like the kind of people who will show us absolutely nothing anymore until that time comes.

But.... Every single triple aaa game company does the exact same thing

Well, for fangames/ROM hacks, there seems to be a damned if you do/damned if you don't scenario: average fans will treat any projected release date as an ironclad promise and will throw a massive collective shitfit for not getting product "on time", but these same sort of fans will also get touchy if the project leaders say "it'll be done when it's done" and simply leave it at that.
That said, for me it depends on how well the project is managed; Mother 4 seems like it's got its shit on lockdown and the team has had things planned out in advance; plus it's nice to see that they actually have something to show for their work even as recent as the teaser linked in the first post, which all convinces me that the team's word is worth a good deal.

Whoa, no, wait.
If you give a release date, it should probably be released at or around that date. It is a promise, and people will (and have a right to) bitch about delay, just like they will for big release titles.
If you don't release a date and say "It'll be done whenever", that's okay and understandable and cool.
If you give a date, miss it, and say "Whatever, when it's done", it's basically pissing on your audience.

The team's been through this thought process. In the very first build, all four members were up and facing the enemy - whoever's turn it happened to be would flip around towards the player until their move was selected.
However, we eventually decided against it for aesthetic reasoning. It doesn't mean we aren't trying to freshen things up in other ways.
