Oh my gosh, the worst-powerup-in-the-series-but-still-kind-of-cool-anyway Blueshell powerup in 3D!? Awesome! Hopefully that means Ice Mario will make it in!
What makes you think it's not all that great? Sure, you can't fly using the shell, but its dash attack and invincibility are pretty useful.
I had a blast trying to beat levels while Shell Dashing from start to finish in NSMB. It is most definitively not the worst item.
The screenshot, it could be the Shell Power-up, but I think it might be just the Boomerang Bro power-up. The dust implies the Shell Power-up, but I'm not getting too exited until I see some animated footage of it.
The shell messes with Mario's dash, which really messes me up when I try to go though levels with it.
Besides finding some secrets, the only reason I really use the Shell is to play the underwater levels.

Either way, if you look at the shoot, you can see that one Koopa is running without a shell, and I think the Boomering Powerup's shell has white lines on it, which aren't on the shell Peach seems to be in.
Well, I can't argue with that reason. Having your dash replaced by a shell dash is tricky, but if you're used to it, it's barely a problem. Still, since the game lacks a flying power-up, I'm pleased that the Fire Flower gets more love.

Anyway, considering that you can now get shell off of the backs of Koopas, I think that Peach ramming about in a shell is only a new feature instead of a completely different power-up. Either that, or some shells allow for that feature in addition to being tossed. I think these shells change to the character's specific color once you get it as opposed to the standard green shells.
Let's see. We have the Fire Flower, Tanooki Suit, Boomerang Suit, and the brand-new Cat Suit. Combine those with a possible return of the Blue Shell, and the Mega Mushroom, and that's 6 power-ups in total (not counting stuff like the Mushroom and Star). Hopefully, we'll see more.
Adding a power-ups, worlds, and boss list on the op page!
I want Kuribo's Shoe and the Frog Suit

New Overview Video! (JP) This game is looking better and better as the release date approaches! Roughly one month remains...
This sort of reminds me when New Super Mario Bros. Wii started showing the Koopalings and Yoshis. NSMBWii was actually shaping up to be something exciting, but then Nintendo ruined it by releasing more NSMB games. Now instead of being remembered fondly as that 4-Player, Yoshi riding, Koopaling bashing experience... its now its grouped into a series of disgustingly repetitive games.

What's my point?

While this is wonderful and exciting now, just wait until Nintendo starts releasing another just like it and another one again!

Sorry to crap all over everything, I'm just having negative flashbacks.
erm.

I hated NSMBWii long before NSMBU was ever announced, and NSMB2 is among my favorite Mario games.
NSMBW gets a bad rap because it is a bad game.
I'm really looking forward to this game! The graphics, the ginormous amounts of powerups...
And those Miiverse stamps look p. neat too
So any Koopa Shell can be used to Shell Dash? I like! It's not the Blue Shell, but at least some of it and I like the way they handled it.
Some areas (notably the ones you're riding stuff) look very tricky. If the levels aren't too long, it should be a nice challenge.

I'm pretty sure that's just you Kriven. Most people I heard from on the net once liked NSMBWii... but then hated it when NSMB2 and NSMBU were announced.
This game is looking more exciting with every new trailer and screenshot that comes out.

You know, I see where you're getting at. If NSMB2 hadn't been released when it was (i.e., a three months before NSMBU's release), people wouldn't be ragging on the series as much as they are now. Which is a shame because NSMBU imo was a helluva fun game; if you ignore the previous NSMB titles in the NSMB series, it felt like what would have been made if the 2D Marios hadn't gone on hiatus for so long after SMW.

Mr. New Super Stagnated "Coins Coins Coins" 2 made everyone else guilty by association, while NSMBWii, NSMBU, and NSMBDS are minding their business yelling, "what the hell did we do?" It's like a classroom-type situation where teacher punishes the entire class because of that one annoying kid in the back.

But enough of that.
