Right the fuck on.
The Turbo Tuesday Finale (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGs6YXNiW...ALWKBx43Mg) shows off Melee Fox, possibly Melee Falco (but they move too quickly to tell), Shadow Peach, Mr. L, Dry Bowser, Hero of Time, Birthday Pikachu, and some kind of Virtual Boy inspired ROB.
Personally, I'd like Assault Falco over Melee Falco. At least I'm fairly certain we'll get OoT Ganondorf and Zelda, so that'll be cool. I'll just make a list of costumes I'd want:
Pajama Ness
OoT Ganondorf
OoT Zelda/Sheik
Super Metroid or NES Metroid Suitless Samus
Ancient Jigglypuff (from that one episode...)
Mystery Dungeon Charizard/Squirtle/Ivysaur (or Pokemon Rumble Toy costumes)
Assault Falco
Donkey Kong in any Mario Party 2 costume
Diddy Kong in his Strikers gear
Meta Knight with no mask
Masked Dedede
Marth/Ike/Roy Awakening Costumes
Sonic either Classic Sonic, Darkspine Sonic, Excalibur Sonic, or his orange spacesuit from the SA2:B multiplayer mode
I don't care or know about the others enough to really want anything from them
Characters that aren't playable yet:
One of Samus's sleeker costumes
Yarn Kirby
Remaining Yoshi Colors (Black, Gray, Brown, Orange, Purple, White)
How many costumes can a character have? I've been wanting to see Link wearing the TP Zora armor and Magic Armor since Brawl was announced.
Also Hammer/Boomerang Mario.
A character can have one alternate "Costume", which is really a set of five to six colors. Each color can utilize a new model.
If you look into modding the game yourself, you can find pretty much any costume for any character and assign them pretty much however you want. There's tons of Zora Armor Links around.
Unless I'm mistaken, the alt costumes work off of Wario's alt costume engine, so I believe only one alt per character. WELL SHIT KRIVEN
-I would absolutely ADORE seeing OoT/Melee Ganondorf as an alt, especially if they are able to give him his Melee voice (but if not for either, there's separate Project-M compatible hacks for these anyway)
-Pajama Ness would be pretty neat, or possibly Poo
-Masked Man for Lucas (oh c'mon who the fuck didn't see this suggestion coming)
-Virtual Boy ROB is fucking amazing on so many levels (and could inspire some of those console modding guys for a project, which I would love to see)
-Mr. L and Shadow Queen seemed inevitable, but I think they're fine enough; an entirely separate Daisy set of costumes could've worked a bit better for Peach though IMO also CD-i Luigi would've been better
-OoT Link is alright, but TBH I would've preferred one of Link's more unique/different outfits (such as his TP Zora Armor, as AuraLancer brought up)
-When they get to Samus, they should totally give her a proper Fusion suit
I'm meh on Shadow Peach. I would have liked Sporty Peach in the Track Suit and ponytail more. But Mr. L is just amazing.
The important question is "When can we host these models?"
I actually gave this a try recently. I'm not too big on game mods but this intrigued me to give it a go and I had plenty of fun. I liked the changes they made to Snake, who was my favorite character in Brawl to begin with, but now I like him a little bit more. Lucario was also fun to play around with, using his new combo system and getting it right was very satisfying.
I'm not a huge competitive fellow though - I'm a casual Brawler. Still, Project M was pretty cool and I liked more changes than I disliked.

We couldn't use Sporty Peach since she doesn't have a dress. She actually uses her dress to attack in some moves (like her down smash) and some animations are made with her dress in mind (when she runs, she holds it up for example) so removing it wouldn't be the best idea. In the end, Shadow Queen seemed like a cool alt that still worked with her hitboxes. Plus, it matches with Mr. L and Dry Bowser.
Heheh, you can host these models when 3.0 is released!
I wasn't sold on Shadow Peach at first because I had totally forgotten about her posession, but now that I know its origins and I've gotten to see it in motion, I'm cool with it. I always like seeing Paper Mario elements in 3D.
Before that, though, I was hoping for either Melee fire-dress Peach or Sunshine Peach.

Oh awesome. That makes sense. That's for the go-ahead!
Do you guys have ideas planned out for a lot of costumes? I know the Fire Emblem gang has built-in alternates from later games. Pit has the Sacred Treasures. How do you decide which Samus to use?

I think you mean "WW Ganondorf" thank you very much.

well
up until this morning we had a marth costume planned
That aside, the PMBR just combs around Nintendo's history, looking for unrepresented designs of Brawl's characters. Some choices are blatant, like our OoT and SF64 throwbacks; whereas some alts are custom designs set to represent a specific theme (like Virtual Boy ROB)
You know, I played Fox and he was the only character with changes I hated. I feel like when the P:M team did him nostalgia glasses may have been on a bit too tight, not to be rude about it. Things such as his basic A attack animation, air attacks, up tilt, stance, etc. are all back go their old robotic-like Melee animations when they don't need to be at all. I feel like if theres one thing Brawl did for Fox, is that they gave his animations a lot of life, energy, and character in them. They even went so far as to bring back the inferior item pick-up sound for his reflector in place of his Brawl one, there just wasn't any need for some of these things other than "yeah Melee!" to me, rather than sticking with what's actually better.
Just checked the site, there's been a post about how costumes will work which has me pretty excited.
Basically, some costumes are going to have a full set palettes, some will not, and some characters may have multiple costumes to choose from. Each costume will handle colors differently, and some won't be usable in Team matches.
The blog also features a brief commentary by Pik where he talks about the design ethos for the Dr. Mario costume, which I probably enjoyed more than the news on costume mechanics itself. Kind of a "Making Of" nerd, though, heh. Anyways, that was cool. Thanks for doing that, Pik.

Nice.
I've got a Marth costume suggestion:
Classic Marth aka definitely from the 80s Marth. (Yes I know FE came out in the early 90s)
This would be amazingly funny.
