I loved this project!
I actually have an idea for a water starter that could be done.
What about an initially bipedal lobster-ish pokemon?
Essentially more shrimp-like but walking on two legs and the final would be more lobster shaped.
I don't have names yet but I have some designs for a Coral Lobster (because Coral really hasn't been done for water starters)
I'll wait until if people are okay with the idea before posting any designs (in the other thread)
Really looking forward to helping out with this!
You can post a pitch picture I guess but the real concept artwork doesn't get made until later.
Oh, well in that case, I made this a while back:
no names because I'm terrible at those
The one on the right is supposed to be an evolution
If these are liked I'll make more views before concept art so I can completely convey the shape of it.
It's supposed to be lobster-ish and coral
The only thing for me is that I wouldn't have been able to tell that the first one was related to a lobster or crustacean other than the claws.
I still want to hear more starter suggestions anyway. The more the merrier.

It might look a little more like it with a side view?
I have it in a shrimp-like body but the view doesn't show it very well.
Again, though, if anyone else has different ideas or suggestions to change it up, that's what we're here for!
Before we change up how the shrimp looks we need to agree that the starters are the animals we want them to be. I haven't even heard a suggestion for the Grass starter yet.
I have a suggestion which I'm not sure if anyone's made yet: a Ground/Dark badger Pokémon that primarily lives underground, but emerges at night to search for food. It curls into a ball, lying in wait for small, unsuspecting prey to come by, then attacks. As an escape method, it can roll away at high speeds and down hills to where it can burrow back underground safely at the bottom. It could have two forms, and the name of the second form could be Ballderdasche. I don't have a design yet but if someone's interested in giving it a stab, go ahead by all means.
That rolling around sounds more like an armadillo than a badger. But I will put it up on the front page.
Maybe it just rolls up to decieve prey, too. It could probably just escape by some other means or fight back, I don't know. It's part Dark-Type so it could probably find some way to sneak away. :p
I'm still trying to come up with an idea for the grass starter, but i have another idea. We should base the starters on a theme. Gen 6 was themed around tge three major RPG classes.
So im thinking, maybe we make them centered around different types of mythologies.
If we pick the fire ram, im debating on wether it being Norse, or Chinese due to the fire zodiac theme.
What do you guys think?
EDIT: maybe we could do some type of bird for the grass starter? Or even the water starter if no-one likes the shrimp idea
I say yay for a bird-like Grass starter. We've had Torchic and Piplup. Maybe a kiwi bird?
I have two drawings made: One for a polyp-stage jellyfish and one for a manowar jellyfish.
The polyp, Polygion, is a Water/Poison type with the ability Suction Cups.
The manowar, Manovelord, is a Flying/Poison type with the ability Aftermath.
This is the main idea I had: A jellyfish or jellyfish-like Pokemon that uses its body to hover like a hot air balloon. Manovelord's "body" is a giant sac that contains a mixture of gasses that can be regulated. The gas can be light so it can fly, heavy so it can sink, or extremely volatile so it takes down its attacker with him.
The polyp Pokemon idea isn't as thought out since it merely functions as Manovelord's prevo. Will upload an image soon.
Miniolyp, the Abyssal Pokémon (Polyp)
Manovelord, the Zeppelin Pokémon (Manowar Jellyfish)
Also, two of my favorite home-made Pokemon:
Hokoot and Pokoot
Hokoot is a baby koot and Pokoot is part koot, part magician/illusionist. Both are Dark and Psychic. Details are in the link.
A kiwi would be nice. Perhaps done in a similar shape as the "The NewZealand Story" kiwis? Not sure how pokemon based on an actual kiwi would turn out, but hey.
I got an idea for the kiwi if we go that route.
The water starter, I feel that we may need to come up with something else. We can keep the shrimp as a regular pokemon with the coral theme. I feel that it doesn't look like a shrimp to me. I can try to see what I come up with on the idea if everyone is set on the shrimp.
If not, then maybe a Hippo?
One other pokemon that I'm surprised that Nintendo/Gamefreak still had not done yet with the starter.
I also got a new sketch of the ram, using some ideas from the last tSR Pokedex project.
EDIT:
here is my ideas for the starters:
The fire ram's only difference is that it lost it's horns (I think that they aren't born with horns) and his face is more pronounced as goat like instead of a full circle.
The Kiwi is based on the concept that it is a little bush, and it can grown berries upon it's branches, which will bring up it's hidden ability that will be made custom for it.
The third is the Hippo, Design wise besides the normal hippo body, I got nothing.
I'm thinking that the evolution stages for the Kiwi would be like, Kiwi, Emu as the first evolution stage, and then Cassowary as the final evo stage.
EDIT: Im thinking, for the Legendaries, we make Hades a Cerberus (either Dark/Ghost typing or Dark/Fire typing), Poseidon a Horse/Pegasus (Water or Water/Flying if a Pegasus), and Zeus a Griffon(ether Flying/Electric, or Flying/Fairy). The reason behind the griffon is because 1. His animal symbol is the eagle. 2. We just got a bird legendary, so I think that making another would be a little redundant, 3. To keep the Mythological beast theme, and 4. There is no griffon Pokemon yet so..)
I really like the Kiwi bush very very much so
I kind of want to play around with the design though.
The hippo seems a little too bland, though.
I see what you guys mean about the coral lobster, and I think it could be a little more successful as a non-starter, but I see its potential either way.
As for the ram, I'd like to think of new ideas, but can't come up with anything at the moment.
I'll work on it!
