actually, the first thing that came to mind with floating appendages was Rayman but going for that ancient egyptian aesthetic
...though, with a bunch of norse, european, and asian-inspired characters, the whole thing just kind of...becomes hugely discombobulated (which look kinda generic, aside from the weapon designs - admittedly, some of them . Like, I guess the whole thing looks off as it'd probably be better animated in flash, but still
i have some beef with those feet. The only problem is, if I suggest you do anything with the feet, you'd have to fix the way the body is facing. For you to fix the way the body's facing, you'd have to fix the way the head is facing. And for you to fix the way the head of facing, you're essentially fixing the perspective of the entire sprite...which, then you have dozens. and then I feel kinda bad for suggesting a minor change that requires you to rework the whole design ):
though now this makes me wonder how one of these characters would look presented isometrically (like the final fantasy games)
I know it's a big leap from one style to another, but if you've got some spare time, I'd try giving it a shot. It'd also help with nailing perspective and shading.
IMO, I feel like the result would be a pretty fresh-looking, original Habbo Hotel-meets-Banner Saga
...but still really neat norse, european and Asian designs with Rayman influence and the whole thing, animated would look kind of cool
and if you're lazy, try to fix the feet to look less egyptian (like make one face forward, and the other out)
