Probably, as Cave Story was.

You can choose between 1x and 2x screen resolutions.

So yeah, the sprites on this one are doubled.

Can't ya just reduce it by 50% on paint or something?

It feels wrong to accept something like this IMO. This is... almost synonymous with accepting MUGEN sprites!
