I could try that, but I'm worried it won't be very recognizable and might look more like a blob.
I'll finish the actual mugshot first and worry about that at the end o/
I'd say make the sleeve larger, and perhaps make his index tug at it? It's looking good so far
Slowly but surely getting there
About the plaid pattern though--does what I'm doing with the hat work? I haven't added crosshatching on the actual portrait yet, but I feel like something like that could do well for the texture. Y/N?
Y, but not like that. Here are a few suggestions:
Hope they come in handy
I'll try something similar to that, but probably with less red.
Thanks!
Okay, I initially did all the checks like the first way and intended to go back and make them like Chris did, but I'm worried the jacket's going to look too red. I'm not really sure this fixes it either, though.
For now, I'm going to go ahead and add details to everything else and worry about the coat later
EDIT: Or, if I cleaned it up more maybe?
dither dither dither dither
But seriously, which version of the plaid (previous post) do you prefer?
I like this version of the plaid the best. It's simpler and less busy-looking, if that makes sense.
I agree with Trollerskates, despite the pattern not working on small areas like the hat, but looking great on the sleeve. Perhaps use a wide dither pattern on the smaller areas?
I see what you mean about the hat now. I think I'm just going to make the 'stripes' bigger.
Just a few more touchups and it should be done, unless there are any objections.
I have some issues at home right now, but I'll try to get it done asap.
In the meanwhile, do you still think an item slipping out of the sleeve is necessary? I'm almost thinking it isn't, because I like the idea of there not being preference to a specific thing--but I also want to be sure it looks like he's going to pull something out.
I don't think it's necessary to draw an item as long as you make Ock's intention clear.
maybe just put an implied dark silhouette of a thing barely hanging out
just enough to know there's something in there, but not enough to know what it is exactly
Anything else before I can call this finished?
something about his right hand seems off, but i can't really pinpoint what. putting that aside, i think it looks great!

its how beagal chose to do the thickness of the lighter purple part on his fingers
not only do the fingers not look aligned properly, but a false sense of thickness and volume is conveyed atm
try again man
