Aside from the fact that I can barely tell Lucinda and Marth apart.

Aw come on, they have different clothing, facial features are discernible, hair while the same color is a very, very noticeable difference, and not only do they carry two completely different swords, they each have a different style of carrying them.
I dont know who this Lucina is but yeah she looks like Marth with long hair too me
It takes like a couple of seconds to notice they're pretty different, and that's if you don't even know who one or the other is.
Different swords, different clothing(aside from the cape), different faces, different hair length, and different genderrrrrrrrrr. It seems pretty obvious to me who one and the other are.

You know who else was a clone with different properties in their attacks?

Roy.

Seriously, just one small change (the sweetspot in his blade) makes him work completely different from Marth.

I mean, come on, they already have a clone of Marth, why have another one.

Those couple of seconds can hamper you quite a bit in a game where everyone is constantly moving and flying away in all directions.
I doesn't help that just about everyone of her animations shown was the same as Marth's, idle included. (Which I'm only pointing out because one of the posts trying to discuss early said she had a differing idle. It's not, it's either the same or similar enough to where finding differences is just nitpicking)
Man people hating on Lucina wtf?

Have you even played Awakening, she's a great character, and she's a descendant of Marth (along with Chrom obviously) so it makes sense for them to fight the same. She'll probably be the Falco to Marth's Fox, which I'm entirely okay with so as long as they have different playstyles despite having the same moves.

I've played many rounds where me and someone else are the same character, and it's not a challenge at all to discern who is who, seeing as you can have your custom name overhead, also if you take a few minutes to get used to them since they're a new character, you'll come to see they're quite different.
I can't really take you seriously right now because you're venting on about Roy and taking it out on Lucina, blame Nintendo for giving Roy the cut, don't take it out on new characters who deserve the spot. It doesn't really come across as mature.
She's incredibly relevant, one of the most popular characters from Awakening, and has more than enough to set her apart from Marth.

Except when it comes to her moveset. Heyoooo

Yo, I'm perfectly fine with clones even if one is just Girl Marth, after all, while clones are pretty dumb, they're easier to do and make the roster just a little bigger.

Just look at melee if we had no clones we probably wouldn't of had Ganondrof, Falco or Pichu!

Well, alright, maybe I'm being really biased about Roy, I apologize.

But that aside, I just find Lucina's inclusion kinda pointless. I mean, Robin on his/her own is just enough representation from both Awakening and the franchise as a whole; he's not only aesthetically different from Marth and Ike, thus giving the roster some visual diversity, but he also contributes by representing certain assets from Fire Emblem.

Most notably, magic; I mean, we already know there are characters that use melee weapons in the franchise (specifically, swords) but now we get someone with the other side of the weapon spectrum, whose playstyle is therefore unique from the two veterans.

Not only that but he's equipped with several tomes of diverse elements that wear off after several uses, which represents an important mechanic in FE; you know, weapon management. Many characters are able to use more than one type of weapon and have to carry a bunch of them not only to be properly equipped in various situations were one type of weapon isn't enough, but because you have to be ready when your current weapon breaks and can't be used again.

Robin's inclusion is just brilliant. It introduces a character from a recent and well received game, and at the same time it adds a lot of essential elements that were lacking in representation in previous games.

Lucina just looks like a last minute clone. Also, why did they pick her and not Chrom? At least he's the main character of the story.

My guess is that the leaker had inside info for e3 2013. That's how he/she knew about WFT. The second leak was filled with some pretty safe bets. Pac-Man, Palutena, and a Pokemon from the newest Gen weren't exactly unexpected, and Mii wasn't that far out there. Just an opinion, though

And for the record, in retrospect I don't really have a problem with Lucina. I like her over Chrom (blue haired swordsman vs blue haired swordswoman and I guess there's nothing wrong with clones considering the fact it just makes the roster bigger. Also, my Melee main is Ganon so to really hate on clones would be a bit hypocritical.

Hopefully they don't fuck her over like they did Roy. The whole hilt does more damage thing really fucked him over, especially at high levels of play

Well for one thing, she's Chrom's daughter, and carries on for him later in the game, she's very much a main character even if she's not THE main character. Also she's female, and I personally think it's much more radular that there's been an influx of female characters(I'll count Villager and Robin since you can pick to play as the female version with them). Also she's incredibly popular.

People are going to complain about "blue-haired sword user" regardless so either way is a lose-lose.

Well, I suppose that make sense.

Still think she wasn't overly necessary, though...
