Double post but, you guys know how I criticized Smash Bros for never putting in the GREAT collection of Mother trilogy battle themes they have at their disposal, or remixing them?
I wish DLC music were a thing
i fucking know right
it's a mystery to me why they still didn't add porky means business, or any battle music for that matter.
atleast we got onett, smiles & tears and magicant this time around
As perfect and beautifully composed as those are, I'm really tired of the mushy mushy music.

I demand more Hammers for challenges. Challenge Mode is pure cancer for this game. I need all CDs to unlock a trophy. Okay. One of the CDs is locked behind a Smash Tour related challenge window. Recover your stolen stats from a Metroid? Really? I have to hope it appears, let it steal my stats first and then bump it again to recover it before one of the sadistic ass CPUs do? God fucking damn it! And the challenge to start the final fight with 10 fighters. It's impossible to hang on to these. The one time I got 10, these assholes decide to use Chain Chomps and knock 3 of them off. They're NOT easy to collect, impossible the last few turns!
KO your rival 4 times in Rival Smash. The rival is basically a level 5-6 CPU player without a handicap. Add some Mii Fighters, which are by far the worst Fighting Team ever created, to stand in the way, obscure your rival and combo heavy %. Fuck. That. I had less problems defeating Master Fortress with 3 different characters.
I simply can stand them forcing me to play modes I hate. The only single player mode I actually like is Crazy Orders, which when playing it on 10 turns, is the closest thing to a decent Classic Mode.
For Smash Tour, maybe consider stacking the odds in your favor by connecting several players that you control. Still based on luck a great deal and no doubt boring, but it might help a lot.
(That is assuming you can have any players at all, I don't have the game on and I don't know what the challenge says exactly)
As for Rival Smash... Yeah, that one is pretty bull. I remember seeing a GameExplain video saying that G&W's Down Air was an excellent move for this mode, but that might have just been for getting a lead on the CPU for total KOs.
If I remember correctly (don't have the video right now), the reason that works is because the Rival stays mostly on the ground if you go near the top. No idea how to bait him into air game though.
If all else fails, try what I used to beat Cruel Smash: a character who counters. Just be counter heavy and beat them away with it.
I've used all my hammers. "Clear All-Star on Hard with every fighter", "Clear Classic on 9.0 with Marth within X minutes", "Defeat 8 Mii Fighters in Cruel Smash", can't remember the last 2. At least on some that can be broken of which I believed were the least likely to be completed by me.
I got 125 KOs with G&W in Rival Smash.
I forgot to mention that I had to find out that I have to KO the Rival. If he or she KOs his-/herself, it doesn't count.
I got the 10 fighters at the final battle of Smash Tour done by controlling 4 players. It's still bullshit that I have to resort to something this cheap and boring. The randomness of the Metroid doesn't help either. I still don't have that last CD.
You know what else is fun? Grinding Trophy Rush! 50000 blocks. A 2
0 round with DK gets me little over 500 if I'm lucky. It's especially annoying due to the fact that it doesn't yield new Trophies.
Oh and the hats... They're so fucking rare. It's a pain to grind for something that only shows up once or twice, if it shows up at all, every 100 equipment pieces collected. There should've been a ticket in Master/Crazy Orders exclusively for hats, like the CDs. Hell, if it were up to me, everything except stages and characters could be unlocked in Master/Crazy Orders and throw out Challenge Mode, instead making most of the Challenges Milestones, which some of them are.
There isn't even a challenge for clearing every Event on Hard. That is something I might want to tackle, because it's a challenge I determined and not something some challenge board taunts me about.
I've also been thinking. Why isn't there an Equipment Shop? It's another reason to spend Gold, even after you've collected everything, including Trophies. It could also be another option to unlock hard to get items, like hats. You can sell Equipment. The Shop could offer an easier method to do so.
I saw something once about an equipment shop being implemented when stuff like the tourney mode and stage trading are finally released. I dunno if it was just a rumor or what though.
I dunno if you are still trying to do the 4 rival kills, Nick, but I just tried it out with Little Mac. While countering isn't usually the best option (The Rival does not hit nearly as hard as Cruel Smash, and he usually will not hit you when you counter), his lack of recovery options makes it easy to just smash him out of the Arena. Granted, it may take a few tries, because he could potentially counter you, but I got almost five kills on him easily.
What I haven't done yet is 3 kills on Rival Smash with Diddy. I'm just not as good with him as the computer is. I get 2 kills and then get smashed out.

The Metroid challenge is basically the only thing standing between me and a 100% cleared game...

Tried it. Failed miserably. I can't recover for shit, Mii Fighters still exist and it takes one KO punch to fuck it up.
Why am I not allowed to
enjoy this game?
I spammed Yoshi's ground pound on the top platform for about twenty minutes to get a few of those Rival Smash challenges. Worked pretty well for me. I think any character with a good slam attack like that (Bowser, King Dedede, Ike, Kirby) should work out, but Yoshi just recovers from his attack more quickly and can be back in the air while the others risk being pummeled.
The new Star Fox stage on the Wii U is such fucking shit jesus fuck. So fucking annoyingly inconveniently ridiculous.

Agree, so much agreement.
The most humorous part of it is that that specific level was the one I was most looking forward to before the game was released. No joke. It looked so cool. ;__;
