Another big problem with SSB4 is that it assumes there is only two ways to play the game. For Glory, or For Fun. But what about people like me? Who want something in between? Not too competitive, not too chaotic. This game doesn't offer that. It's only one extreme or the other and none of you seem to understand that.
I want items. But I don't want them too be super random and overpowered. I want stage hazards but I don't want them overly chaotic and zany.
I don't want to just turn them off. I want them balanced. Is that really so hard to understand? That there is more than just two ways to play the game?
Yeah the lack of freedom when it comes to online is saddening. I wish I could do 1v1 For Fun.
Not /all/ of the stages are Pyrosphere though. Skyloft and Woolly World are two stages that have just enough gimmick. Same with Mushroom Kingdom U if you're specifically looking for stage hazards. The Boss stages are unfortunate, as is the ability to turn off gimmicks in stages (man wouldn't it be awesome to have P:M Pokemon Stadium 2 in THIS game?) and I agree with you for the most part, but there are stages in there that aren't completely random zaniness.
As for items, there's an item switch for a reason dude. I haven't played a match with a Gust Jar yet.

I'm pretty sure I was on your side of the debate last time you brought this up.
I only have the 3ds version of the game, but the this is the only smash bros game that's made me think the items and stages were absurdly bad.
I'm not crazy about the roster, but that's because I don't think Nintendo makes its characters interesting or fun anymore and not so much because I think the roster choices are too bad.
But, yeah, sakurai's team tends to emphasize the boring doll-like qualities of the characters more than necessary and should probably let characters smile sometimes. Weird, coming from the guy who made KI: U
I could go on and on about how everything about the game except the core mechanics are honestly pretty poorly done (smash run battles, online options, failure to celebrate any series whatsoever, failure to provide a good single player experience...)
So K.Rool has been confirmed as DLC!
As a Mii Brawler costume. Come the fuck on Sakurai
DLC coming July 31st already? Yay.
I understand the Chrom costume, but the K. Rool one is a bit of a slap in the face. I think. It doesn't Rool him out as future DLC character *shot*. I think for a DK Mii costume Cranky for Sword Fighter would've made more sense, but that's just Mii *shot again*. I assume K.K. will be part of this wave, so regions other than Japan can finally have one. I have a Totaka Mii ready to blast the opposition with a guitar.
Right now this wave looks a little light. Maybe there's more to be revealed, but if this is it (incl. stages), I'm okay with it, because last wave was expensive as fuck.
I swear to god, if this means King K. Rool isn't playable after all, I'm going to tear my goddamn hair out, but you know, maybe they're teasing that he WILL be a fighter, but I don't know, I'll just keep my hopes at a low.
... I mean, he resembles his old DKC look but I mean...
DK Vine aren't too happy, let me tell you.
Just like with the Inkling costumes, I'm not holding my breath until the Smash Ballot is released.
Y-You bunch of cynics and worrywarts you

It doesn't deconfirm jack and it's DK-related content. But what do I know.
Also, if that Dr. Mario stage is real: Yes, please!
OH SHIT, I just noticed the position of the vitamins and viruses in the background are the same as on the stage! That's a neat detail!
Would be interesting if the K. Rool costume was an intentional throwback, and that K. Rool is introduced in his newer design.
I mean, I don't like the newer design as much, but still, would be an interesting twist.
(Although deep down I know this is PROBABLY a sign he may not be playable.)
The Chrom costume makes sense, since he's not going to be playable (as being in Robin's Final Smash, a Mii outfit and a playable character would be a bit too much) it's the next best thing, I like it.
The K. Rool costume I think is testing the waters, assuming he's not already being developed already I think if enough people download his outfit then maybe they'll actually make him a real character. (I wonder if that means we might get Wolf/Snake/Ice Climbers/anyone else who's been cut costumes?) The only other thing it could mean besides a full de-conformation is K. Rool might already be in the works but it's taking longer than expected and the costume is a way to tide his fans over while the real thing is still worked on. (That or while showing off mii!K.Rool, the real thing comes and kicks his butt.)
The Dr. Mario stage looks pretty spiffy, I hope it's legit.
Oh good. Another stage with interference that you can't turn off.
