Seriously though, I'd love Takamaru, and I am actually interested in picking up the game when it releases. o:

As much as I think I'd like the character, I am doubtful of his inclusion mostly because Sakurai himself has lamented how we have too many sword people and how difficult it is to come up with unique moves for them.

Though on the other side of the coin his swordplay style would probably be heavily based on the fighting style of the samurai, which is drastically different from how Marth and company use their swords. So I've not completely given up on him.

I think he also had access to magic kind of abilities and projectiles like shuriken. A lot of that stuff would be pretty interesting to see in a moveset.

However, if I remember correctly his official list of techniques is somewhat limited in the original game, but not impossible to expand.

Takamaru is also fully playable in samurai warriors 3 as well btw so they could take some moves from there as well.

He has plenty of magic scrolls from his own game to use for a moveset.

How do Takamaru's scrolls work?

Right now I'm imagining him fighting similarly to Tenten from Naruto, which is something I'm down for in a Smash game.

They act like power ups that replace your standard shuriken. The more you use the abilities on these scrolls, the more your scroll meter decreases.

For example you can have the Fireball scroll which makes you throw Fireballs instead of shurikens. If you keep using it the meter will go down and you'll start throwing shurikens again.

There are only two types of scrolls however. The Fireball and Double Edge Sword. But Takamaru can also learn two special skills, Lightening and Invisibility. He can destroy all enemies with a bolt of lightening, and turn invisible/invincible for a short time. He can only do this three times.

Isn't Takamaru's Hair Purple i know in the original concept art i think it's black though i could be mistaken.

It was black in the original and blue in the two games I mentioned
