I really hope that Takumaru gets the same treatment that Saki from Sin and Punishment got when he was confirmed as an assist trophy, that much I will say. EDIT: To clarify this I'm trying to say that hopefully his game will actually be released stateside on the virtual console.
Mystery of Murasame Castle at least deserves that much, Smash usually has a reputation for making Japanese only games more or less noted in the Americas so that would be nice.
Well Platinum Games did say they were interested in bringing back the series.
Mysterious Murasame Castle will release for the 3DS Virtual Console on August 7th. No word on a Wii U release.

Source please? I knew they were once interested in bringing back StarFox, but I never heard them say anything about Takamaru.

Perfect example: Fire Emblem?
Wonder what would Miiverse reaction be when Ridley is revealed to be playable.
At this point he BETTER be playable or they're going to have a bloody riot on their hands.
See at least Sakurai straight out deconfirmed Takamaru and didn't drag it out for almost a year.
That's pretty much why people still root for Ridley. Sakurai has always been quick to confirm what a character's purpose is when they are revealed, at least in terms of people highly requested to be playable. Two exceptions were the Yellow Devil and Dark Emperor (or whatever that green thing is called), but they aren't really highly requested playable characters, and that was back when the stage bosses had a bit of mystery to them.
Not to mention all the times he's mention that if something is too big, they'll be scaled down.
STICKER STAR STAGE FOR 3DS
PLAYABLE PAPER MARIO'S CHANCES: SLIGHTLY BETTER THAN BEFORE
At least it's not yet another grassy Mario stage. To some degree at least.
