There is far too much Mario representation in Super Smash Brothers.
But not enough from Paper Mario. :p
But the Mario stages are split in half due to the two version.

I disagree. Mario is a vast property, one that can easily be divided into a number of franchises. Even disregarding Donkey Kong, Yoshi, and Wario, the Mario series can be reasonably split into: Kart, Sports, Platformers, RPGs, Party. That's five unique franchises which all appeal to unique audiences for different reasons, and which are all incredibly successful to Nintendo.

Compare that to any other Nintendo property: Fire Emblem, Legend of Zelda, Metroid... One franchise each, usually with fewer games per generation.

No, Mario has earned all the rep it gets.

At least it's not yet another grassy Mario stage. To some degree at least.

This picture just makes me long for the 3DS Paper Mario game we were initially promised…

Aw well, at least they decided to use a scene from the best game in the seires instead of making the stage completly a Sticker Star one.
I dunno, I wanted a Paper Mario stage as much as anyone, but I'm a bit disappointed with what we got.

The stages are kind of generic in appearance and don't look like they emphasize the "made of paper" aspect all that much. If I hadn't been told these are for Paper Mario, I would have just seen them as more generic Mario stages.

Like for the grassy area one they should have made it look more like Pedal Meadows from TTYD or something, with the outlined octagonal papercraft pipes and the more cartoony-looking trees and bushes and an environment texture that actually looks like specific types of craft paper.

What we actually got doesn't look a whole lot like Paper Mario. Just ... Mario.
Forget Paper Mario. I think a Mario & Luigi series stage would've been more fitting for the 3DS.
I'm not holding my breath for a Mario & Luigi stage, sadly. It's a shame, they always had amazing settings.

MY FUCKING GOD, people are never happy with anything, are they?

They should be happy that Takamaru even made it in, assist trophy or not.
Their words are only effective when you take these people seriously. I can't for the life of me take them seriously. They'll buy the game anyway (just to bash them on Gamefaqs while secretly enjoying the shit out of them.)
There are some real dedicated fans out there venting in a traditional internet way.
Man i wanted Takamaru playable as well, but holy crap some people need to take a chill pill, people should be happy that were getting two smash bros this generation as well.
I think it's Sakurai's way of conveniently stating things in a somewhat trollish fashion at the wrong times that causes rage, hell I don't even think he knows it himself sometimes hahaha
@senjen:
Like I said before, I'd rather have one ultimate Smash than dividing the effort in two.
@ Koopaul that is kind of true i'm just really hoping the 3ds version doesn't water down the wii u version -.-
