There's always the chance that Sakurai was informed about this new Ganondorf before diving too deeply into Smash development, just as was the case with Greninja, Robin, and Lucina.
I find it doubtful that HW Gdorf will appear, however, simply because he probably isn't Nintendo's "core" Ganondorf... He's a side dish by another developer.
Liondorf can seduce anyone, Sakurai isn't immune to his effects.
This is where I believe DLC can be a good thing for a game. Something comes out past the point the game is in final stages, but is perfect for the game. The developers get some time to do DLC content later and add in extra stuff for the fans.
Granted, this kind of thing gets abused on a regular basis, but Nintendo has given a variety of free DLC in the past, so who knows. I'd probably be willing to pay a bit for a Liondorf skin.
His playstyle though is probably not going to happen. I'm pretty much sure we'll see the return of Falcondorf.
I really hope this guy becomes a trophy or a assist trophy,

I want to play THAT Ganondorf in Smash. Dual-wielding heavy powerful swords combined with powerful magic would definitely lend to differentiating him from the other sword-based fighters.
As cool as this sounds it also sounds pretty OP.
> try to approach liondorf
>> get a wall/fast-moving projectile of black fire in your face
> finally approach him
>> get spotdodged and fsmashed for weeks by disjointed sword hitboxes doing massive damage on both sides of the character. like pit hit the gym and now has ike arms doing damage in the iron man numbers
Sure you can make up for it by giving him slow attack startup but at that point, why not just play Robin instead
If they made him a Robin clone that has powerful attacks with abysmal magic, and had Robin be quick, have strong magic and so-so sword damage...
I think I could get behind that
ganondorf ironically going from clone set to clone set lol
Kosheh, you know Ganondorf deserves to be the sexiest and most overpowered SSB character of all time. Just look into his eyes, let them seduce you.
DAT Mane, DEM Dual Blades, DAT Magic, DAT Design.

I'm well aware and my arousal in many places serves as evidence. But that's not an excuse to make him overpowered as Mega Dick
On originality, maybe if they worked magic into his kit that would complement a strong normal attack set and strong smashes, or gave him additional melee options (i.e. his side special makes him stomp the ground with magic that roots enemies standing on the ground so he can follow up with a melee attack) then like
okay maybe but it'd be silly to give a magic user magic attacks and not make them strong ranged fighters
that's wasted opportunity!
strong ranged magic + strong physical attacks = might as well just put sentinel in the game
I have confidence in the Smash team that they could make it work while keeping him balanced.

Don't get ahead of yourself Iceman, you don't want to get hurt.
Although the resemblance is uncanny. I think it's just an inside reference, not really a hint at something bigger. One could argue that the platform looks like Soul Calibur and Soul Edge, where Calibur is very blue, edgy and crystal-like and Edge is red, demonic and full of tendrils in a lot of incarnations.
The game has been full of surprise after surprise though, so who knows.
Then again, scenery/images where
orange and blue collides in general are pretty common, since they pop out and look really lively and captivating.
I honestly thought it was supposed to look like the Earth is plummeting into the Sun, with the corruption of the platform suggesting that there is some sort of malevolent force behind it, and our fighters are fighting in hopes of somehow reversing it.

This is kind of sad in some cases. I'd love more Metroid representation, but most of the "items" you can get in the game are merely power-ups to Samus' suit, and while one did cross over well, everything else is kind of left in the dust. However, if you paid close attention to early Smash Run videos, the Power Bomb is making an appearance, so there's more going on than face value here right now.
Well that's why you give them other things. F-Zero doesn't have any items. But they have a lot of characters that could be Assist Trophies. If we are only getting Goroh, that's pretty bad.
Or you make something up. Look at how they turned Olimar's ship, the Dolphin, into a bomb. Things might have trouble translating into items, but with some creativity, you can do it.
