Must stop playing...Smash 4...and Mario Kart 8...just long enough to finish these sheets!
I tried fixing the problems with Mario's standing animation, on the I hat edited the shading a bit and fixed the weird shading movement on the standing animation, and edited his back leg a bit.
Thanks for pointing those things out, guys.
I also added stuff like some fighting animations.
These sprites are looking good, Neweegee. I really like how smooth the animations are.
The style for the new Mario makes me think of your current Zelda sprites. If this is gonna be your new style from now on, I'm really looking forward to more.
Mario's punch animation reminds me of Little Mac from Punch Out Wii. The contact is pretty much immediate, making it seem more forceful, and most of the time is spent on the retract. Makes me think I should apply this to my own sprites now.
Something bugs me about the fire burst, though. It seems kind of odd, like the fire is shaping into a tube as it goes out, or something. Fire normally either expands outward or rises up. Maybe if you had it sort of pop like the fireballs in the game do when they hit a wall.
Keep up the good work.

I took a look at the Jab animations from Smash Bros and saw that there was almost no start-up on them. So pretty much, weak/fast attacks should have little to no start-up, only recoil/retraction
It took a while, but I tried changing the fireball animation to be more like the ones from the games, like you said, and added a lot more to the sheet.
Also I changed the color palette to be darker.
^ Dr.Mario is used as a Final Smash-type ability!
I haven't forgot about the Smash Bros Items sheet!
I like the sprite except the nose on the portrait is a bit to big, and it covers up his whole face.
OK, I made the nose smaller.
And now I've added the text to the sheet, which means it's pretty much done!
Also, I've been testing out how other characters would look in this style.
It seems the most challenging part of working without outlines is getting some parts (mainly the arms) to not blend with the rest of their body.
Oh yeah, definitely. While it saves a lot of time not having to deal with outlines, it also makes pulling off your forms pretty difficult. If I could make a suggestion, keep your shading heavy and give your character's limbs a different color than their torso whenever possible. Working without outlines is really interesting because you have to design your characters around the limitation. Here's a good example of what I'm talking about:
What is going on with Deku Link's eyes? Not only are they a tad bit low, but they are also solid white.
I think you should rename the final smash "Doctor Overdose". ^^
Quote:Luigi's stance looks weird. It makes him look like he's imitating Joe the Condor's drunken stance (or whatever the heck he's doing) from Tatsunoko vs Capcom. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hG7RDLM8W-Q
I was trying to give Luigi a stance different from Mario's, then it kinda just happened like that. I might need to change again if I animate Luigi's stance.

I made them white to separate them from his hair, but I don't know what I can do about their height.

It happened
Now here's some edits
But, I need to finish other some older sheets before I try anything else.
Warning: Kinda of a lot in here

How about this idea? You could try making Deku Link's head just a bit bigger. Try that to see if it does you any good.
Alternately, you could surrounded a 2x2 clump of pixels with a small circle and use that for Deku Link's eyes. I've always found that to be a pretty clean solution.
Woah holy fuck the Mario animations, I always love miniature ssb stuff, and the latest style is fantastic. I will say though, Yoshi should be considerably larger than Mario.
