Don't let your lack of a mouse hold you back! Personally, I use a mouse for everything because with pixel and vector art, you don't need a tablet!
...But if you're using a mouse, I can understand how hard it is to lay down linework. So instead, you might want to "sculpt" your art instead of starting with outlines and filling them in. If you're confused, here's what I'm talking about using some old art as an example...
Here, I start with big blobby shapes and add in the outlines afterwards. For some people, this is a better technique because you don't need to worry about drawing pixel-perfect lineart until you already have your proportions. Neoriceisgood uses this technique too.

^I've seen that method before done by a friend before. In fact, I'm kinda using it with my new laptop and tablet. Speaking of which:
Trying something with my tablet. I dunno if it's a going to be a new style or an existing style. The facial features are gonna be a serious pain in the ass though.

I tried.

I basically did the same thing with the wip above and shrunk it down to make this. The color scheme and head isn't final. I still need an Idea on those.

I wanna get back to my other projects, but I though that I'll try a new method. Instead of drawing a stick this time, I drew a shape that looked like a body part and traced the clothes over it. After this I'll work on my other stuff. I wanna finish this sprite though so at least I'll have the feeling of actually finishing something, which will help motivate me. As for the Large unfinished art above, I'm gonna redo that later until I can actually face.

Which one looks better? I still need to do the arms, but I plan on finishing this today.

Hmm...I'd say the one on the top looks a bit better. I think there are a few too many wrinkles on the pants of the bottom version.

Getting there.

Not entirely related, but I edited the OP with a streaming schedule. I figured people watching my progress will help out with critique. I'll also post sprites that gets done in the stream in a spoiler tag in the OP. First test stream starts Monday.

Have a Zero:
The style is a custom style for Super Smash Flash 2, which is pretty much JUS with a few more adjustments. I'd try to find the most recent example, but screenshots bulk up the actual sprite size.

In spite of the many times I've tried replicating this idle, it's still incredibly tedious. There may be some problems here and there, but I could never get this clusterfuck of an idle to look correct. C+C is welcomed. Still a wip, but these frames are final.

Tried to make it more hunched. Also, should I change the head?

Minor fix. Moved the torso back 1 pixel.
I wanna redo the head, but I'm not sure how to.
I'm gonna focus on something else and work on this set behind the scenes after I get this base correct. Sorry if I'm posting the same thing too much.

My advice would be to move the eye back a pixel or two to match the perspective of Zero's head. You'll want to do the same with the fin up top and move the background fin forward. As it is now, it looks more like Terraria.
