@Damian; placeholders or not, I don't think he needs permission to use them in a freeware fangame. I'm pretty sure the SSF2 team didn't ask permission before using those characters, let alone for their official sprites. If people had to ask permission to make fan art of any kind, there would be no fan art. Just be grateful someone thinks your work is good enough to use in a fangame.
Check it out!
version of the version from the screenshots without all mcleodgaming related stuff!
(not kiding i removed even the battlefield stage made by nintendo95)
this one comes with a minigame starring izarck jitter.
all graphics in the minigame were made by me.
i had add kirby but the absorbing ability was kinda "buging" the game.
anyways!

Sorry if this sounds like extreme nitpicking, but you misspelled "melee" in the tags.
Anyway, I'll check out the game, just as soon as my ridiculously old, slow laptop finishes downloading it.
Just saw these and lol

and besides.
i saw these on google and it said it was all made by bluepikmin11
It's pretty obvious how half of these are actually straight-up stolen out of SSF2.
NONE of those are consistent with one another - and it's really obvious as to which ones weren't lifted from SSF2 by the huge drop in quality.
Like, look at Mario, look at Bowser; look at Ganondorf, and look at Marth - and tell me they're all made by the same person.
They're not. Half of those were taken right out of SSF2. :/

...credit is given though, within the SSF games to their respective owners (and in a pretty exhaustive credits screen too iirc) :/
Damitt i think for some weird reason the .exe isnt opening in my grandfatther pc.
I'll reupload it later after i finish my homework.

It was...uh
Kosheh
I was actually a dev for the game for some time and then I was kicked for inactivity. Hush hush don't tell anyone I'm why Naruto uses his shadow clones in his Up + B and my incessant complaining lead to Ichigo's Down + B actually doing things
I'd love to join the MG team again as a dev and fix up Megaman but apparently I have to MAKE SOMETHING :/

Boy I sure do love Super Smash Flash 2.
If anyone ever says to me that Flash is no longer fit for game development, I just show them SSF2 and they (usually) retract their statement.
I find it extremely ironic that someone is defending the unauthorized use of someone else's sprites on what used to be a spriting forum
Come on, dude. Don't start that argument over again.
You obviously don't like Jitter, but don't derail his topic.

Huh? I've made like, two posts towards the guy. I don't dislike him, I'm pretty indifferent. How can I dislike him, I hardly know him. And since I was talking about something that is going on in his game, I'm pretty sure I'm on topic to say the least
You've kinda been an asshole to him, and you were quick to side with Damien about the sprites, so it gives me the impression that you dislike him.
And you are derailing the topic because you are digging up past issues. That argument is done, so there's no need to pursue it further.
Saying something about his grammar is being an asshole? And of course I'm going to side with the dude who had his sprites used without permission, especially since it seemed like he didn't really want them to be used.
So what if the argument was "finished." Honestly, it shouldn't have been. You'd think on what used to be a spriting forum, there would be more people defending the original artist. Also, since the argument is about something relevant to his game and this topic, I'm not derailing.
No, saying something about his grammar is not being an asshole. But phrasing it this way is:
Quote:for fuck's sake man, work on your grammar
Quote:And as far as PMing vs putting it my post, I really don't see the difference in it. I'm lazy, and I didn't feel like going through the extra pages for something's that's not too big of a deal
Quote:Hey, be as rude as you want when someone steals your sprites.
Quote:I find it extremely ironic that someone is defending the unauthorized use of someone else's sprites on what used to be a spriting forum
I don't think there's any reason to continue the argument, but you obviously won't listen to me anyway.
The community is the core of forum, so there's no need to be harsh against other members.

Oh, I said the f-word. I'm such a big meanie. To make sure I'm not a sourpuss to any more new members, I'll give every new guy a handjob.
C'mon man, just because I'm not coddling somebody doesn't mean I'm an asshole. To be honest, I probably should've actually been an asshole, because his grammar hasn't exactly improved.
HOWEVER this is getting off topic. I'd hate to actually derail this thread.
I'm not being harsh to the guy. Unless saying something about his grammar is harsh or being up in arms about him using someone else's sprites without permission (who didn't really seem to want them to use the sprites in their project anyway) is harsh. If that's the case, I could probably go on a several page rant filled with expletives and phrases that the younger members on TSR shouldn't hear
I also fail to see how the three extra quotes you provided make me an asshole. I didn't feel the need to PM the guy because the grammar thing wasn't
that important. The second one was more of a response to someone else calling the dude rude for Jitter using his sprites without permission. I still stand by that statement. Like I said, this used to be a spriting forum. Sorry if I think it's important for an artist to have some rights to what he makes. I still find the situation ironic. That's not really assholish
HOWEVER (again) I should be on topic for this.

I realize he should have given credit; I'm not defending that. The point is permission, not credit. How many fangames do you know that actually ask permission for the sprites/models/sounds they use? Even still, those that make their own most likely don't ask for IP rights before making them. And as Jitter said, they're just placeholders until he can get his own. Why bitch about something that may not even be in the final product?
If everyone who made resources or owned the IPs were as restrictive as the guys arguing against Jitter here are, then SSF2 wouldn't even exist in the first place. I still find it ironic that this argument is even coming up on a network who's major content is ripped assets from other games, and the rest of the content is fanart, be it derived or original. You made a game; your resources will be ripped and used. There's no harm in using them for freeware games. If it was a problem, as I just said, then fangames wouldn't even exist, so either grow up or shut up.
