I want to rip sprites from a bootleg NES game called Q Boy. Its fun to play and I wanted to rip things in it, but I have a question... Are bootleg games rip friendly? Maybe this is a stupid question but, just to be sure...
I think since bootleg games are mostly just modified versions of actual games, they can be ripped using the same methods. For example the
Wario Land 3 pirate of Puggsy was probably ripped by either tile ripping or hard ripping with layer disabling, just like the original game would be.
I might be misunderstanding the term bootleg though. If you mean stuff like homebrew games (coded by hobbyists as unofficial games), I would assume you'd also do it in a similar manner to most games from the same system.
The games are not hacks, so I guess it will not be too much of a problem (But it will be hard).
