To be honest with you, I think you should be focusing more on the quality of your sprites rather than how many sprites you can make.
Yeah it's great that you are posting more content but at the same time you do that the less likely you'll be able to improve on what you can already do. Maybe this isn't how you work and that's one thing, but you shouldn't be afraid to go back into something you already "Finished" to improve upon what you have already done.
There's no such thing as a finished artwork, and that logic applies to spriting and pixel art as well. But on a brighter note I do see the potential you have and it's really just a matter of bringing that potential out.
I wouldn't say that what I do isn't decent practice. The majority of what I do is pretty similar to doodling I guess. I mess around, have fun, get something to the point I am happy and move on to another project. I look back and realize the stuff looks like crap but would rather just make something new in most cases.
Here's my first sprite using the -drawn- style and an edit of it done tonight. I think the new version looks a lot better. I tried to apply the advice given here as well and some things I have learned. So, at the moment I am happy with it. Hopefully, in a week or two I will look back at it and realize it looks horrible.
The right one is definitely an improvement, there are many things to be changed but it is indeed better than the left one.
Everything you make will give you some experience to the next piece you make even if they aren't related, so it's normal that you get somewhat better even if you don't work on the same subject over and over. However it's nice to go back and try something that you already did to see your progress better.
the energy blast animation looks like crap though, with its doodly effects that don't look like actual plasma/energy beam, and the lack of force input to his arm and body to launch it.
Thanks. The entire animation looks like crap? or mainly the effect?
It's actually a whip animation that I'll probably try to finish up tonight.
Edit:
I went for a kinda loosely focused lightning attack. Not really happy. I'll redo it again. Maybe start with a regular whip and cover it with a ligntning effect. Not sure.
Whip Animation got sidelined by ADHD. lol
I ended up going a bit larger that I usually do on this one.
it's an improvement, but being an energy whip, it should leave some particles behind. it's weird that it manages to remain solid all the time. I also don't like the dithering you used on his suit, unless he is using a pailette (in which case, I'd suggest to change the dithering's color to shine at some frames).
however, I think his face is kinda scrunched up and weird.
Yeah. The more I look at him the less I like him.
Well. Tonight I made Abraxas.
Looking at everyone else's awesome stuff makes me realize how badly I suck. I think I will try something a bit different.

That's not the right attitude. Work on your self-confidence, pal. You've definitely improved. But by all means, feel free to do something different if that's what you're currently set on. You're the boss of yourself after all.
Yeah. In my defense, I was reeeeally sleepy when I posted that.
Here's a quickie I did after a nice cup o'coffee.
Another DC character.
Bubbleman's got no face! Ahhh!
Having fun with this one. 5 More to go.
Edit: Added the 6th.

Here's my current WIP.
I hope you don't take offense to this, but I really prefer your scenery pixel art rather than your character pixel art. It seems much nicer in quality.
