(EDIT: A revision to the script is available that supports automatic texture importing now!)
Hello all! I'm coming to you all with an announcement!
You can now rip your BFRES models freely! Thanks to myself and RTB working on this script, we've got a working script for 3DS Max to import those Wii U BFRES models!
Download it right here: DOWNLOAD! (RTB's note: Or this version if there happen to be rigging problems, like with 3DS Max 2013/2014.)
This only works on uncompressed, raw BFRES files. Decompiling them using LordNed's tool will make them useless due to the pointer system.
Bug wise, I know of there being possible errors when using this script on Max 2015. There are also some models from NSMBU that may have problems, but they're just models brought in from NSMB Wii.
Now onto the subject of textures. They are embedded into the BFRES files. RTB got a working BMS script and through some mangling with TwilightZoney and RTB, we have a batch program that gets everything to convert to dds through TexConv2 correctly.
You can download that package of stuff right here: DOWNLOAD! (RTB's note: Alternatively if you don't have WinRAR, you can use these two links instead.)
Usage is pretty simple: Run the BMS script and dump the gtx files from whatever BFRES file you want to dump from. Drop those gtx files into the Convert folder, run ConvertGTX.bat and the dds textures you want will be in the OutDDS and OutDDS_Lossless folders. (RTB's note: You'll want to check the former first, the latter is particularly for the normal maps / ATI2-format textures, and for some reason won't keep alpha channels.)
The output textures can't be opened in Photoshop with the plugins, but they read just fine in 3DS Max and Noesis.
That's pretty much it! Enjoy, use to your hearts content!

Special thanks to TGE for getting me started on this, and big thanks to RTB for aiding me. It wouldn't have been possible without him!
