Yeah, you're fine to criticize and comment, just making a vocal hypothesis of observation.
(Generic Design....*shake my head*...like Felix the cat and Buggs Bunny? we have a million cats, hedgehogs, turtles, mice, Then we grab a goofy Dreams Works Bat and Chameleon two very un involved animals in mascots and especially in gaming but no these two need an article of clothing especially the Chameleon because dammit; without the back pack or shorts I just don't get Yuuka. Oh and Laylee's nose? too cartoony it's big and noticeable and far too distracting, it's gotta go. I mean it's a video game not an actual cartoon designed for a new generation as well as an old one. What were they thinking?) ~Thinking to myself.
I hope we get a wise cracking Tutorial and move teacher. I can't think of an animal in this style where the jokes just kinda flow.
*Bugs Bunny
Yeah well here's the thing about Felix the cat and Bugs Bunny... they're old as dirt. The reason we have a million cats, rabbits, etc. is because of these characters, they're archetypes....
Just because they're not typical animal mascots doesn't mean they were designed very well. I Like Laylee, but Looka needs something to set him apart. They look like something out of one of those knock off "Pixar" movies.

EDIT: Yooka** Cause Helmo is a dahling.
(...but is still a frumpy adult)
The game was annouced less than 72 hours and people are finding reason more so to get nuts in a bunch than getting hype. That saddens me. No one has claimed these characters are better than anyone previous, but finding fault isn't going to bring out their potential. You sit around today a frumpy adult analyzing what you should be more anticipating not with some gross antitipation that THIS is going to make platforming a monumental change, some sort of redefining moment. I didn't say they were good, I just know they aren't the worst we could have received. I in fact love the fact I'm already imagining accents and voices, and jokes. If anything I just don't people sitting there judging rather than being glad that anyone in todays world still gives a shit about making something fun and good less from the perspective of making money (Cause I mean these guys could do lots of other things to earn livings.).
You know what I'm happy about? The fact people even still like 3D exploring platformers. Do you see how CRUSHED that stretch goal was? Like, that's magic a part of me wishes Sonic could die like Banjo and Kazooie did so that another speedster could give people something to get excited about instead of rummaging through their hypothesis, and theories and ideas of how much better than game could be if this or this or this. It's be more than 10 years since something this child like and whimsical and let's not forget it's a new IP. People have been wanting something new and familiar but better and it looks like people are planning on delivering on that. All I ask is everyone try not to to get your fake Sequelitis caps on. Sometimes it's just as cool to be hyped kids in grade 4 talking about a cool game some cool guys did.
We're not saying you can't get hyped, lol. My warning was to say clear of OVERHYPE, because if you hype it up too much, it can't possibly live up to the standards you set it up for, and will end up disappointing. I say just look at it like "That's cool, nice, I'll get it when it comes out," instead of "OMG BEST GAME EVER" when it's not even out yet.

I just checked the official page, his name is Yooka... The game is called "Yooka-Laylee".
tl;dr I can criticize something and still look forwards to it, but apparently that makes me a "frumpy adult".
the worlds are interesting, to say the least. however, i dont find the character designs to be all that memorable. it really seems like something that you'd remember 7 years from now and then forget about it the next day.

What you're looking for is Freedom Planet.
Anyways, for someone that has never played a Banjo Kazooie game in their life, i'm hoping that Yooka Laylee gives me the kind of satisfaction that Banjo would've given me if I ever played one of those games.
I'm looking forward to see what they do with this one!
I dunno, the characters certainly do get the whole "90's mascot platformer protagonist" vibe spot on, so at least there's that. Yeah, it'd be nice if they had something more to add to their design, specially with Yooka, but they look alright as it is.
I'm definitely be looking forward to this game. It may not be the bear and bird's faithful return to glory, but close enough.
Everything about this so far is good. It'll be nice to see the collect-a-thon 3D platformer make a return. And hell, this generation needs some 3D platformers (non-plumber based ones).
hey, you guys remember A Hat In Time??
I just wondered how they're feelin' right now after this announcement, lol

Pretty salty actually
I don't get it. Why would they feel any different?
If anything I'd think they'd be excited to already have a foot in a video game genre that may be about to have a big come-back.
I hope they feel salty
Because you know, fuck the guy that's behind it
Mmm, apparently there's some story here that I'm not privy to.
Is whatever it is so bad that an entire creative team deserves to be condemned for the actions of one person?
I can think of a lot of actors and musicians that are assholes but I still feel I can enjoy the content they create regardless ...

honestly the more I look at it, the more bland I think it is. I already thought that Banjo & Kazooie was kinda bad, like a dumbed down Mario 64 gameplay-wise (albeit the graphics and dialogues made up for it, but meh)
At least Banjo got something going on his design, a backpack to carry Kazooie and a pair of shorts. Now, it's just... a stylized chameleon and bat with a nose tumor that could fit into a Madagascar movie without problems. I don't think that is good
Take my opinion with a grain of salt though, because this may change the instant we get to play this game.

It was kinda a huge no-no he did - and actually, I think some of us actually knew the guy. The head of the project, who went by "Meta" (not Metaru - who all-in-all is an alright guy) IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY has laid off staff, then taken their name out of the credits while still keeping their assets 1:1 within the game. I don't remember the exact hairiness of the whole situation, but it basically ends up that Meta hijacked said assets from those people, and when people contacted him on it (professionally!) he responded in an extremely bitter, condescending fashion that basically translated to "cyall fuckaz l8a hope i can see yall from atop my mountain of dollar bill$$$!!! haHA"
