The Ultimate Greatest Spriter
BaB doesn't post anymore
JWW doesn't post anymore
Ryumaru doesn't post anymore
Shawn doesn't post anymore
Frario doesn't post anymore
There goes half of your expert pixel artists.

Also I'm tepid about this for a couple of reasons.
1) First and foremost, the majority of the regular, really good spriters don't post here anymore. If they do, it's usually trolling. This leaves an imbalanced skill level between members. That, or it'll be a newbie-only contest. Both will generate rabid complaints (likely from different people).
2) No one ever finishes their entries. Every contest has been like that, this one will be no differerent. This isn't Pixeljoit, where the userbase does pixelart so regularly it's like a job (and in some cases it IS a job); and the userbase isn't so large that there's always a supply of stand-in contestants.

One can only imagine why!
I remember in the last TUGS me and Lava were to compete against each other in the Semi Finale thing
..Then Frario left PT and TUGS just kinda fell into itself
Yeah, I was looking forward to finishing but then it died and I was sad.
I would be greatly interested in another one.
but yeah the expert class is kinda dead; it woudl likely have to be two skills levels rather than three.

Basically this. Although from a non-spriting standpoint, I can't say I mind. They probably don't care either.
Who's they?
There'd still be an expert level, if ever. The experts are chosen based on the top 33% of the entrants anyway, so.
But what this means is our Experts will be Intermediates.
And our Intermediates will be Beginners.
And our Beginners will be...
what? Mud?

Those who you listed. I don't really see JWW going "Oh my god, I really should go and sign up on tSRC, I fucking loved Pixeltendo so much, this is sure to be more of the same", do you?
Guys, after a certain point people just aren't worth being in a competition. TUGS isn't a license to sprite, if your not good, its best not to enter. Why even have a beginner? Just "Intermediate/Expert", the only classes worth competing about. I use quotations because technically it'd just be lesser half of entrants/higher half of entrants.
Hell, we don't need tSR members only as judges, if I could get Helm or Auronwolf.
Besides, who says BaB doesn't come around here anymore? I saw his stuff on here like 3 days ago.
Uh, guys, PT does in fact still exist in a somewhat living form on the internet, so I don't really think calling whatever spriting competition that might be hosted here "TUGS," would be appropriate. You can't just gank from them something that's been a tradition there for quite awhile. (As far as I can tell, at least) Name it something that actually has some sort of value over here. No one that wasn't already a member of PT at one point will even understand the name, anyway.
Anyway, as for those of you that are saying that the extremely skilled pixel artists don't have membership here....uh, what do you want to be told? Simply hold the competition with lower expectations in skill. When the experts are no longer part of a community, the people directly below them become the experts, in name, anyway. If you want some sort of tournament held between master spriters, then all that can be said is that this isn't the place to try and hold that kind of competition.
Oh, and having judges that aren't even members of TSR is kind of a silly idea in my opinion. But whatever, I'm not going to go around dictating EVERYTHING that you can and can't do.

The tournament for noobs and other people at the spriters resource
I wanna go for expert!
This will be my second attempt at TUG in almost a year or two.
That's of course, if we have it.

that's pretty much why I don't want TUGS on TSR. There are only like a handful of experts and a bunch of beginner and intermediates here. You can make a TSR Sprite Competition but it's most likely gonna end up like a TSR Sprite Compo, nobody's going to enter or finish. Look at sprite compo #4, tons of people said they'll enter, but only 1/5 people finished.
TUGS just died off last year. And the same will most likely happen if there's a TUGS in TSR.
If this does in fact happen. I wouln't know where I ranked because it depends on the people that are in. But we don't even have an idea what we are going to do yet? Also don't count the noobs out. Just make them part of beginner maybe? But we should make it so only certified members that TSR knows that are real, and can sprite. So we don't have trolls joining in and ruining the competition.
@Skink, those mini sprite compos never really meant that much. Have you seen that mascot competition? It was practically huge, and it got finished by a very close margin.
