Who's your favorite character? Mine would be Papyrus. I just like how energetic and prideful he is. Also...
It's pretty sad that in a Genocide run, he still continues to have faith in the player having some good in them, even if they aren't showing it, when he dies. I wanted to give him a hug.
i also feel bad for skipping all of his puzzles and not playing along. i feel like a big fucking asshole for killing him and toriel
genocide run sucks ;_________;

That's kind of a hard question, so I'll split it into three.
On one hand, he's a really good comic relief character like Papyrus. The typeset he speaks in and corniness of his jokes really compliment each other. On the other hand, he's one of the most mysterious and powerful characters in the game. The dining scenes gave him some really nice development and his implied relationship with Toriel is my favorite of the game.
His whole situation is really relatable and he has some of the most memorable quotes in the game. Despite how weird he is, it's surprising how he's the only character that realizes how weird Mettaton's popularity is.
This was easily the most unsettling enemy in the game for me. You have to tame it the same way you do the earlier dog enemies, but the tone of the fight is so much more creepy. But once I saw Endogeny happily reunited with its family, I gained a lot of sympathy for it. It's nice seeing how pretty much everyone (aside from Flowey) got a happy ending in the True Pacifist run.
sans is my favorite character, hands down. I just really enjoy the comic relief, and
oh my god the genocide boss fight is amazing
Something's been bothering me about the player character for a while now, when I got that important piece of information I needed to do some research. So perhaps they're intentionally androgynous so that the player can easily put theirself in their shoes, however...
I've searched high and low to see if Frisk is a unisex name, and I'm not finding anything that doesn't say it's a Boy's name. I really thought they were a tomboyish girl, considering some of the events in game, like the constant flirting with confirmed boys, dating Papyrus (not that boy's can't do this either, but...), and of course the dress and tutu (again, not that guy's can't wear these, but it's not THAT common). Unless they're trying to force Frisk to be a unisex name, I think that revelation ended up being the final nail in the coffin of this mystery...
There isn't really a mystery surrounding the main character's gender?
Like you might've guessed, the general consensus is that they're intentionally androgynous. Every character in the game refers to them with gender-neutral pronouns and it's left open to the player's interpretation whether they're a guy or a girl. The inherent masculinity or femininity of someone's name doesn't determine their gender, either. A guy named Mary is still a guy and a woman named Steve is still a woman (unless they say otherwise).
yeah, I think there's no need to delve any further from that. Just imagine the original character as an "avatar", a general representation of a human being. All humans, boy or girl, think, take actions and communicate - and I believe that there's no real point in discussing their representation any further than that.
The gender of the character is really ambiguous all around, but there are two constants (with spoilers because it pertains to endings:
The main character is ALWAYS(ish) Frisk, only to be revealed in the aftermath of the final battle. It's revealed that the name you chose at the beginning is actually the name of the first human who fell into the underground. As a result their gender is somewhat ambiguous, sort of determined by the player's naming conventions.
You ARE the first human who fell, perhaps encapsulated in a new body. Backstory for why they are such assholes is never FULLY explained, but is lightly brushed upon in a converstation you can have in the final walk of the Pacifist ending. This, as a result is also based on your own interpretations and naming conventions at the start
Really their gender and personality is shaped by the player's actions. For example, I thought flirting with Papyrus was appropriate behavior. After all, he is wearing the Starman sign on his chest piece.
After finishing all the routes I can say with assurance that this game completely warrants the hype. Easily my game of the year. The amount care put into it is amazing.
Shade Undertale Reaction Compilation (WOW CHECK THIS GAME OUT!!) 2015
Neutral: Flowey is a butt
Pacifist: Asriel is a big ol butt, but he's okay once you get to know him
Genocide: Wow I'm a big ol butt
Heh, a buddy of mine said he'd like to see a movie based off this. Could you imagine such a thing? The characters and lore can translate over easily enough, but the action? I'm not quite sure how well that'd translate. It'd probably have to be a Pixar type movie in terms of graphics, since they seem to do the best at representing these kinds of universes.
Lelz, soccer moms need to stahp.
Though he is right, at least, in that it is a fad. It'll blow over eventually, someday...and then parents will have nothing to worry about. Instead, it'll be another thing with even more violence and they'll complain about that instead~ The never ending trainwreck of soccer moms x3.
Honestly, I am now getting sick of seeing and hearing this game everywhere I go to online. Not even Miiverse is safe.
To me, Undertale has already gotten overrated and hyped up the ass way too quickly. Just like Five Nights at Freddie's.
It's really making me NOT want to check the game out. Sorry guys, I'm not jumping on this bandwagon.

Couldn't watch the whole thing, because the stupidity of these people was turning me violent.

The difference being, Undertale is actually good
Also no offense, but that's a pretty silly reason not to play a game tbh

While I agree of also being sick of seeing it nearly every site I go to like FNAF or the Ponies, I don't think it's going to spawn a million barely altered sequels either, lol. It's probably going to be a Cave Story sort of deal, where it gets its following, and then the following quiets down while the cycle continues to other things. It's been nearly two months now, so I'm not quite sure of the phase its in, but basically, refer to this chart.
Should look familiar. Basically, we're either at the Early Majority or Late Majority phase. If no other new thing related to this game (sequel) is announced, it'll start quieting down when it reaches the Laggards phase. By then, something else will have sweeped the internet. The same thing happened to Flappy Bird and Goat Simulator, which are pretty rare to see now.
