How about Point and click?
That would fall under Adventure I assume.
What about Dungeon Crawler?
Typically Dungeon Crawlers are RPGs. When they aren't, they'd be Adventure games.
card games
mobas
survival
Could break up shooters into fps and third person, or single vs multiplayer.
Card games are far and few between and would be classed as board games.
Mobas are strategy games.
Survival isn't really a gameplay genre, your aim in most games is to survive.
And there's not reason to break shooters up into FPS and third person...
I feel like you guys are going for really specific genres at this stage, which I believe would dictate we have summed up the genres quite well already.
Survival has its own category on Steam at least. Of course, Lara Croft is a popular tag as well for some reason so I suppose it doesn't mean much.
Rogue-like
Hack n' Slash
Two genres that again are sub-genres.
Rogue-like is applied to a lot of things though, and in a system where you can tag with multiple tags, it could be could for the purpose of specificity. Rogue Legacy, Don't Starve, Darkest Dungeon and Binding of Isaac are all rogue-likes. Are any of them remotely similar apart from that?
Rogue is a metroidvania. Don' Starve is open world survival. Darkest is resource management and rpg mechanics. Isaac is straight up a 2D legend of zelda game with dead babies.
Well that's what the tags are for. This is for categories for games to go into.
Ah, my mistake then. Currently running on about 4 hours and been up for about 4 already.
Dungeon crawler? Should we have the alternate term "shmup" for shoot em up?
Dungeon crawler was already suggested actually. I put it down at first too..
First-Person Shooter. This one mostly dominates the PC section as they started on computers sinceĀ 1973 with Maze War.
Wolfenstein and DooM were the games that made the genre more popular.
