Huh... it sure is a mystery. The only thing I know is that if the xtras are present no files get created, if they aren't, a .dir of the program itself occurs. Where did your attached xtras come from?
By the way, I was noticing on BioMediaProject (a site that archives some old LEGO.com games) it was saying the following on all of its games: "Problems playing the game? Download and run the
LEGO games Shockwave Xtras patcher.", could it possibly be worth it to give those Xtras a shot?
Edit: Any idea how to get iml32x.dll? From what I've looked supposedly it is suppose to install with Shockwave, but I only get iml32.dll when I install instead.
I swear I saw it in the Shockwave 10 folder I deleted off my computer the other day (I was cleaning out Shockwave installs), but I don't even get it when installing that version, and I don't see it when looking at the installers internals (via 7-zip).
Sorry for late reply
Wednesdays are no computer till absurdly late days
IIRC, my xtras are directly from where the computer downloads them to.
I'm pretty sure those other xtras are only for really special cases, though
No idea where to get this file from, sorry...
I am well aware of BioMediaProject.
Discovered it last year, actually.
Many of LEGO's old sites also are backed-up by the web archive, I am in the process of grabbing some stuff from there, as well.
As for biomedia project, I can promise this much: I will be ripping many of the old LEGO games, thanks to their efforts.
And even cooler is that I can play many of them.
Speaking of archives, the site I'm dumping files to is also a LEGO archiving project, but centered on a single game, and also with the intent of modding it.
But that's enough off-topic stuff.

I'm gonna need to find a solution, though, because I have some Shockwave games I really want to rip. without diropener and recover-cct working, I absolutely cannot... /:
Made any progress? It'd be great if we could solve this before my Director trial expires (22 days).
So in regards to that supersonic RC game, I was able to rip the geometry using 3D Via Printscreen, but none of the map's textures or correct UV mapping exported so it's kinda useless.
Ratchet and Clank.
The files for the PS2 games are stored in .wads with the exact same format as the ones used in the Spyro games.
Sorry for late reply, was on vacation, and i sadly can't remember my login here, again... (hence why i use the remember me option in most of the sites i visit, besides write my passwords down in assorted places)
so, I'm glad you found a method to get the geometry, at least.
What about even converting the 3dxml files, though? I tried 3dvia printscreen a few times before on other stuff, and got dead-ended on the fact it's another generally non-supported format.
as for the director trial, there's always the option to use a crack or grab the serial... just sayin'
(that's all i'll say, though, i'm guessing directly providing links to that violates ToS, seeing as ROM links do)
again, IDK how to rip any of the geometry with director, and director is also not installed on my laptop, and there's the cannot transfer files at all without internet issue that recently popped-up... >.> , that said, I have no way of examining any of the files. Good luck, I've done honestly all I can to help you, I regretfully must say I just can't help anymore with it...
I also didn't do much ripping or even game emulating while away because A: wifi bandwidth was crap, B: computer or drivers crashed multiple times (once due to failed update...) . I was planning on getting blender downloaded and installed so I could work on solatorobo without outsourcing, and maybe starfox assualt if i could crack the formats or find-out how. both of these plans have failed...
I sustain the request on Starfox Assault... I don't know what I'm doing, I can't find any reliable information, and my laptop is quite possibly too unstable to risk getting somewhere and losing it all without warning or a chance to back data up.
Ah...
I was about to ask if anyone's had luck with ripping models from
The Evil Within/
Psychobreak...
I have seen that folks over on dA have ripped the meshes of the models themselves in Blender (using the Blender coding for Wolfenstein: The New Order or something; another Bethesda game) but had trouble trying to access the textures, which was real disappointing...
BETHESDOOP WHY YOU DO THIS.
Fire Emblem Awakening's model format is kinda unrippBle. Only certain thing can be ripped, but it's only like 5% of every model in the game. I can provide you with them if you'd like to try your hand at it.
"Harry Poter and Quidditch World Cup" is a game where the ripped character do not automatically become in T-position. May be it is something that you would want to look into furhter.
Escuse me, but wil it be possible to crack anything from Racjin's games on the PS2 and PSP? Games like the Uzumaki Chronicles games (including Akatsuki Rising)
"Woody Woodpecker: Escape from Buzz Buzzard´s park" for PC is one game which can´t be ripped with any model-ripping program I know of at least. If someone can rip models from this game, please contact me.

My time is limited... which will be explained elsewhere
but...
Can I see a screenshot or two of the .dir in director?
Ideally, show me as many of the casts as possible

If you can't remember them, make a document with all of them. mine is called "passwords.docx"
i have like three .txt docs with them...
but these aren't kept up to date, anymore
that's where my 20-100+ to-do lists come in...
