my older brother used to be a maniac for yugioh. he would play with his friends almost everyday from 4th to 6th grade. it wasn't until someone at school stole one of his valuable decks. he was completely crushed and stowed away all of his cards in a cardboard box, vowing to never play again.
i guess it was just a phase. right after that he moved onto runescape for the rest of middle school, then he started avidly playing drums in high school.
Its kind of weird. There's gonna be new formats based on the various series but rituals are only allowed in Arc V and fusions are banned in DM.
I'm going through my "I wanna play Yu-Gi-Oh! but don't know anyone who does anymore and don't want to support Konami anyway" mindset at the moment.
i've known a couple people recently who do still play, but i don't think it's as huge a phenomenon as Magic and Pokemon. nowadays you're more likely to come across someone who likes Yugioh cuz they sold a shit ton of old cards, lol.
while i do like their classic games, i do agree more or less with that sentiment of not supporting konami. they're not really doing much as far as I know so what's the point really.
I was just kind of turned off by the series when Arc V was announced. There was this perfect balance right before the end of Zexal. It was chaotic, quick, and OTK prominent, but it was manageable, everything could be countered, even older decks could compete a little bit if made right. When dragon rulers were banned, I was winning games with AMAZONESS MONARCHS for lulz. Pendulum isn't all that bad, but its also a very fitting name. It swings to tier 0 or tier potato, and ironically ends up being really slow in comparison to other decks, considering the mechanics can ensure a full board every single turn.
Never got why the Pokemon card game is more popular than the Yugioh card game. for me the Pokemon card game was never any fun to play all decks seemed sameish , while Yugioh has many different cards and all kinds of ways you can take an opponent down. I once created a all spell and trap deck, and there's no greater feeling than owning someone with a unique invention.
Don't get me wrong I love Pokemon, but the strategy of the card game is so dull to me personally.
how many levels have you made out of the desire to be purely EVIL?

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't understand the question.
