It's Unity, but you can't just drop in the sprites like that and I'm not aware of anything you can buy to do it either (I haven't looked). the tile set looks good but I'd increase the contrast on those blue walls. As for the ceiling tiles, try making them darker so you can easily distinguish different rooms with them.

there is no set style other than "making it look good with the rest of the sprites"

But generally, there's no outline, few shades, 4 frames for each character (one up, one down and two to the sides). Using already used colors is optional.

I notice the shading on the character is the same in all sprites except the down facing one. Probably not a problem but mentioning just in case.

I made a character. Had to do every one because of the character's asymmetry.
