We were all excited when Wario got his second costume because we assumed alternate skins would be available. Not so. Sakurai teased us and left us with a case of blue balls.
So what costumes should there be? Rules: Costumes must be alternate versions of the same character. None of this "Pikachu's skin can be Pichu/Raichu!" nonsense.

EDIT: Ninspriter, Ton directly said that these costumes don't become anyone else. And I agree. They are just costumes and shouldn't change the character in any way.
The smb3 showidea for bowser brilliant.
...Why would both Marth and Ike, two characters who have various costumes in their respective games, both become Roy, who not only is a totally different character with a different hair colour, but also his own sword style that is very much different to both Marth's and Ike's?
in b4 Meta Knight becomes Lyndis.
Also, good job ignoring the rules.

@Ton, that rule was lame.
Meta Knight would work better with the samurai outfit from quick draw in my opinion. The bad ass voice he has in Smash Bros wouldn't sound right coming from his maskless self.
Also I support Ton's rule about the alt costume having to be the same character.

No, but you see part of the top half and I'm sure there's official concept art lying around somewhere.
The only ones who had official art back in the Star Fox 64 days were Fox, Falco, Peppy, Slippy, and Andross. The rest only had the Codec Heads.
Truth is, Wolf hasn't had an alternate costume. I'd imagine if there were alt costumes, Wolf would appear in Fox's classic costume, or James'.
That's really the problem with most of the Smash Bros. Most of them haven't had alternate costumes. Others, like Pikachu and Jigglypuff, use their pallet swaps FOR alternate costumes, some of which borrowed from other characters (Jigglypuff's Green Sleep Cap was actually Kirby's Sleep Ability).
Also, Metal Gear Solid 1 Snake and Sonic Adventure 2 Alt Costume for Sonic.
I notice a lot of people are suggesting Peach's sports clothes but that won't work because her Smash Down requires a dress to work.
Be conscious that these are the same characters and whatever costume they are wearing shouldn't get in the way of their original moveset.
