Figured it was time to stop making excuses and try this out again.
So uhhh, I guess to start off with a self portrait, a random set of sprites with this chick and a mech and a dwarf that I never got around to finishing because I fail at making axes.

Boop Boop De Boop... Boop!
Starting something new to experiment a bit further, also updated one of the previous sprites I made.
I might go back to the Dwarf soon but I'm debating with myself whether or not I should keep going with it as is or start a new version from scratch.
So here's an update to the progress I'm making with some small foot notes:
-Chimney is not going to stay the same as it is now, generally because that pattern I made on it just isn't working for me and I feel like I need to look up some people on how they textured stones in this kind of view.
-I mad a change so that the house could appear to have two floors, but I am not sure if the shading of the house works (Part of the reason why a shadow doesn't exist on the top portion of the house yet), windows have yet to be shaded and I never bothered to get too detailed with the grass around the house just yet.
-I may add more details to the mountains in the BG
-The only thing that I really like about this right now is the tree but I want to see what others think of it in how it stands now.
With that said I'm not entirley sure where to go with this next so I am willing to take whatever C+C I can get. Part of the reason why I'm posting here anyways =P
i like the landscape but I would move the tree to the right or increase canvas width to improve composition.
the tree trunk is also very straight and regular, i think it could benefit from ambient lighting
Update:
-Tried moving the tree a little bit to the right and added a bit more to it, also tried messing around with ambient lighting but it's probably going to be some time before I get it right.
-Speaking of ambient light I'm going to try to apply this to the lower right portion of the composition and play with that using the windows as if a light was turned on in there.
-I'm still considering expanding the canvas width because I'm not sure that moving the tree alone will change anything.
-Some detail updates particularly the Chimney, grass, and on the tire swing.
-Moved the moon slightly to the right and added some more stars.
Update:
-Chose to change up the shading of the grass and the trees since I felt that the lighter shades of green were totally unnecessary.
-Smoke with opacity was thrown in to experiment, same with the lantern that I threw in.
-Added some detail to the mountains to make it less bland than in the previous versions I posted.
-Messed around with the shading of the house a little more.
I think I got a result that I'm a little more satisfied with to be honest.
the mountains in the BG should blend more with the sky (farther things, due to how atmosphere works, will get the sky's hue and become subdued compared to foreground objects).
Thus, it should be less apparent and mixing with the sky color. This will help keep the focus on the parts that matter - which is the house and the tree.
I think I preferred the colors in the older version of the bark, instead of this dim yellow you used for the light. I think you should work more on the actual proportion of things - the objects look good separated, but when together, the tree looks very short, the lamp post looks very tall and the tire looks like it's touching the ground.

Perhaps a little more like this then?
You know, I like how this came out, but I'm not sure how I feel about the lightest brown color right now.
Other than that I think the changes I made from the last version helped it a lot.
EDIT: Just for comparison, how would people feel if I made a few tinkers to the lighter brown values like so?
It's been awhile since I posted anything on here so here's a bump with some content I've made in the past couple of weeks and one from a few months ago. (it's been a bit difficult in my case lately because of college work, BUT, since I'm on break and it's been a bit since I've been making anything I'm getting myself back into the swing of things.)
MAYBE some of you have already seen these on Pixel Joint or on my Facebook but to show that I'm still alive and still making pixel art when I get the chance to here are some things from least recent to most:
Original Size.
X3:
Comments and criticisms appreciated, this is something I'm kind of doing out of my spare time and I'm rusty with raster based graphics.
Looks good to me. Keep it up!
Skiddly swoodly doop, update.
So just a rundown of changes.
Altered the mask slightly, trying to make the eye holes of it smaller but not quite sure if I achieved that that yet. If anyone thinks that it's about as good as the ref for that then I guess I'll leave a ref for that
here.
Over stating the obvious, BG change since I thought the original was boring. Not super polished and that's to be updated since I'm pretty sure it's obvious that there are some jaggies but since I wanted to aim to make it somewhat closer to the splash screen in the game when you pull an all out attack.
Finally external outline change and some updated highlights.
MAYBE I MIGHT DO MORGANA, ANN AND RYUJI IF I CAN FIND THE SPARE TIME TO DO SO BUT I AM NOT CERTAIN THAT WILL BE POSSIBLE GIVEN MY FOCUS WILL BE ON MY SENIOR FILM/THESIS FOR COLLEGE WHEN THAT STARTS GETTING UNDER WAY.
So now that I have your attention, I'm gonna say that rather than make a totally new thread I think I'm just going to bump and update this thread from here on out and see whether or not any of my threads made after the date this one was initially made to be merged into this all together, there should only be one with the Joker Pixel Art.
So anyhow I guess my recent stuff I posted over the summer is appropriate to place here?
So yeah, in my spare time I've been making some sprite work when I've been getting the chance to outside of my senior capstone, not sure when I'll get the chance to do much else of this detail for sometime.
Ok, so I've also been digging around in some of my old accounts on various sites and my drives to find some stuff that I don't think I shared with this board before. I ended up finding some pixel art city I made then composited into a .mov file with some other assets for a post production assignment I had at one point.
It's nothing too special and this might be testing the bounds of what can be posted here but since I don't really have any plans to submit the .mov file, I think that I can get away with posting some of the assets and the whole file here. Also I plan on making a progress gif of the ridley pixel art I made to show how the process of that went down. Other projects are currently afoot at this point in time.
EDIT: Huh, Guess I somehow mistook an older version of the file for the one in the video. Oh well. I'll leave it up anyways.
the only raw asset I don't have is the original file for the "fuck"-copter but, who knows I may revisit this and do something different with it in the future. Also, if I can find some of the other original files of stuff that I have that's either on my instagram, newgrounds, or other sites that I can fit into this thread I'll probably post it here because well, might be worth dumping some of the stuff I've been up to lately.
EDIT 2: Found another old thing that I wanted to have in this post digging through my own website while updating it.
