Where Adventure Mode is concerned, I always wanted to be able to go through some of the stages from side scrolling Nintendo games (in addition to a couple of new stages). The biggest problem I had with Melee's Adventure Mode was the fact that the stages were always the same and after 24 characters it was pretty ho-hum. At the very least three possible levels for each step of the way (three potential stages for level one, three for level two, etc.) just to keep it from getting boring.
Along the same lines, I would really love two or three new Smash Run maps with themes from IP instead of more Subspace Smash Stuff. I think one with a Metroid theme would work extremely well.
Honestly, I hope the image where Sakurai blocked the annoying Waluigi memer is fake. I think even as a joke, the people pulling for Waluigi has definitely gone too far to the point where people have lost self-awareness. If it's to the point where Sakurai needs to block people, at least.
Anyways, the amount of work in this iteration seems truly fantastic. I think the "WHO'S GOING TO BE ANNOUNCED NEXT?" feeling that came with previous Smash Bros. games doesn't have the punch it used to (now that the roster is as big as it is), so the decision to surprise people by saying "Everybody's in this time" instead was a very smart decision. Sakurai's got his pulse on things.
It looks like the gameplay is a good compromise between what competitive people want and what the party players want. Very excited about that.
So it seems that Samus' Dark Samus color scheme is gone and while I believe that there will be characters with more costumes than in the demo, Fire Mario and Proteus Ridley come to mind (the latter is a confirmed costume), Samus now has a different all-black armor, with yellow lights and visor. I was heavily sceptical at first, totally writing the possibility off, but now I see a Dark Samus echo fighter being a likely possibility.
As I was going down the Smash Wiki rabbithole, I was reminded that Alph was supposed to be further developed in a way similar to Lucina, Dr. Mario and Dark Pit, like having the ability to pluck Rock Pikmin. With the game being built upon the foundation of Smash 4, I can see him getting that treatment as planned, making him Olimar's echo fighter.
So my new top 3 possible echo fighters are as followed, from most likely:
1: Alph, because the plans were there. I can imagine an echo fighter Alph was planned before Daisy, Ridley and the like.
2: Dark Samus, because I doubt Samus will have two fully black armors and leaving out a Dark Samus color-scheme in favor of something more obscure is weird on its own.
3: Shadow the Hedgehog, because having Sonic's moves makes a lot of sense for him and there's yet to be any sign of him being an Assist Trophy where a Knuckles Assist Trophy is already confirmed. He isn't deconfirmed as Assist either, which is why he's third on the list instead of second or first.
Stuff I was thinking about related to Assist Trophies:
Knuckles may have replaced Shadow the Sonic-series AT (for now), but Bomberman could be considered Gray Fox' replacement as the Konami AT according to that logic. I don't believe much in "they replaced them" when there's nothing confirmed for the other character, but I was thinking that Gray Fox could likely be replaced by Raiden from Metal Gear Rising, because cyber-ninjas. It makes sense, because Raiden is more popular and has his own game (technically two if you count Metal Gear Solid 2, but he shares that with Solid Snake). However, if for some bizarre reason Raiden is somehow playable, he should totally have a Gray Fox alt.
Unfortunately I don't think Alph is going to be an Echo Fighter. He's shown off in Olimar's character trailer on the official website, and I think they would have highlighted him a lot sooner if he was going to be "promoted." All signs point to him being treated like the Koopalings.

You're right. I've seen that, but totally forgot. There's something about Alph that makes me forgetful.
Honestly, all i really want is a proper single player mode, i always forget that smash was on wii u because i played very little of it. I mean, all the unlocks were done by my nephew and brother playing 2P a lot, i didnt play it all that often.
Classic Mode in Wii U was always a disappointment for me. 3DS Classic Mode's structure was at least kind of like actual Classic Mode. Master Fortress was fun as heck, but Wii U Classic Mode is so different from old versions that it might as well not even be called Classic Mode. Hopefully Ultimate's is more of a return to form.
Given they're "Streamlining" stuff like Giga Bowser/Wario Man/Super Sonic/ect as Final Smashes, meaning you don't directly control them as "super" versions of fighters, you know what that makes me think about?
The idea of an asymmetric mode, where essentially one person plays as a "super" version of a character and multiple players fight to take 'em down. And the idea that would be amazing for this, though probably impossible/implausible, is giving them all new-model-based forms for that akin to Giga Bowser/Wario Man/ect.
Like, there could be original ones for characters who don't have it ala Giga Bowser, but for pre-existing stuff from the games I can think of that haven't already appeared:
- Luigi as Super Dimentio
- Peach in Shadow Queen form
- Donkey Kong as Super Kong
- Fierce Deity Link
- Hyper Beam Samus
- Justin Bailey Samus for Zero Suit Samus
- Pikachu as Raichu
- Jigglypuff as Wigglytuff
- Olimar but with Super Spicy Spray
- Snake in a Metal Gear Rex
- Mega Man in the Super Adaptor
- Pac-Man as the gold version from Pac-Man World 2's final fight, possibly combined with the arcade Super Pac-Man
Like, that'd probably be a nightmare for poor overworked Sakurai in the main game, but it might be fun as; like; a 20 dollar DLC pack. Anyone else dig that concept?
I'm not sure about characters and forms exclusive to a so-called asymmetric mode, but an easier alternative is something that could be part of Special Smash, where you can set up one player to be giant and a team of three that's normal sized. Just imagine the settings you have for Special Smash in Smash 4, but there's an option to choose these settings per character.
Also, it'd be cool if Giga Bowser returns as a Single Player Mode (Adventure, Classic, whatever) boss and along with that, we can see the return of Porky and Rayquaza with some new bosses to boot. I prefer no original bosses, like Galleom and Duon (same goes for enemies), except for the Hands and a final boss like Tabuu. With that, we could see the return of Boss Battles, which was gone since its introduction in Brawl.
I'd really like a "Sub-Boss" stage in Classic Mode which takes the place of Metal Mario's battle from Smash 64. You're pitted against a random boss from a list of them (The Emissary Bosses are a good place to start, plus Metal Mario, Giga Bowser, and Giant Donkey Kong).
Since you can KO certain Assist Trophies now, maybe a Classic Mode round where you fight a team of 10 Waluigi's for example? A Team Assist Trophy instead of Fighting Mii Team, Fighting Alloys, Fighting Wireframes and Fighting Polygon Team.
Oh, that would be so much fun! I don't know about 10 Waluigis, but yeah, "Assist Trophy Team!" would be great. Aw man, why are you making me fantasize about things we can't have?
I had one costume idea in case Dark Samus makes it in as an Echo Fighter. Since Samus herself doesn't have these colors, Dark Samus could have a costume based on the Phazon Suit. It'd be cool, because that's the suit Metroid Prime stole to become Dark Samus. Another idea me and my brother had was a Varia Suit color for Dark Samus, but more based on SA-X from Metroid Fusion.
Wishful thinking aside, here's something real I can get hyped over: A Mega Man 4 Medley done by Jun Senoue! I love the Dreamcast era Sonic music and the Angel Island arrangement for Brawl, so seeing Jun do another song for Smash gets me very excited, but it's a Mega Man song to boot! I wonder what other musical crossover we're going to get.
One thing I always forget that I want when these topics is brought up is some kind of (and this will strike many as a strange desire, but I digress) voice actor toggle. I mean, that's about the only aspect that isn't really being gathered up for this big event. You've got composers working on musical scores from outside their franchises, you've got all these characters and environments from various eras in Nintendo history, you've got all sorts of spritework and other art representing the various technological incarnations Nintendo has seen, but what you don't have is this big all-star mash-up of voice actors. I'd love to be able, on the character select screen, to choose if I want the current Koopalings voices or their voices from the DIC cartoons (and for that matter, maybe a toggle to change their names to like "Kootie Pie" and "Cheatsy"). Switch between DK's ape-like grunts, Grant Kirkhope, or even Richard Yearwood from the old DK cartoon series.
On the topic of voice toggle, now that Marth is voiced in English, I hope you can switch between English and Japanese for characters like him. It wouldn't kill me if there wasn't, but I've always known Marth as the guy that speaks Japanese in Smash Bros.
