Considering it was a choice between using an emulator or knowing how to flawlessly decompress LZ77 compression to get the missing tiles, I went with the easier option! Of course, the latter would've helped out in other fields, but I'd rather not spend another fifty years learning that just to get that one enemy ripped.
And because I'm not very good at following up astonishing feats of wonder with other astonishing feats of wonder, here's
some things I ripped in like six seconds. Yeah, I've no idea why the PlayStation port has such ugly sprites for Patra when the arcade version seemed just fine. I'm under the impression the English publishers redrew them all, but I haven't got the Japanese version to back up my belief.
Nice work, it might have been easy but they're still awesome rips
I've been neglecting Puchi Carat further by browsing through the site to see what games could do with more or better rips.
Would you believe I learnt new things getting these? I didn't know WRAM was actually important!
For whatever reason Yogi's sprites don't show up in their entirety in a save state. These five guys are all complete (with an unused celebration animation each, too!), but Yogi only shows up in whatever sprite is currently on-screen. What a revoltin' development.
Also yes the layout is completely, completely terrible and I am very ashamed of it.
Sweet! I love Hongkong Phooey
Aw, I hope you figure out Yogi.
Thanks to anyone who made buttons for my stuff! Seeing
Puchi Carat looking so nice with its own little section inspired me to get finishing it off, starting with
Rquo, the little girl who wants to - you guessed it - take over the world. (of course!) She's also got a pet called Kumi-kumi with the exact same intentions. Despite this, she's kind of boring, probably because most of her dialogue revolves around complaining about being treated like a child and not, you know, being evil. Wasted potential, for sure.
Also,
some crap from
Wario Blast. I'm kind of surprised how there still isn't a totally-everything complete rip of the game, though considering how dreadful it is I'm not too shocked.
It's
Patra-kun! With this sheet finished, I believe there's only one other appearance of Patra-kun yet to rip, and then MY COLLECTION WILL BE COMPLETE.
Pity it's a Japan-only DS quiz game that has a wonky way of storing files, and I'm not even entirely sure if she's in it or not. :{
Woo Patra-kun! Nice work!
