A quick edit to further explain my point:

Your bigest issue are the colors. YI style is bright, even dark characters like Meta Knight should be bright. White highlights on everything, especially metallic surfaces like his mask. I don't now if you had used colors from the actual palette before, but I doubt it considering how dark they were. Use the real colors, look through the actual sprites, find colors that match what you want, and use them.
Reuse colors, you had a different yellow on his eyes and his sword despite the two being almost identical. Then you had a single pixel of the lightest purple. There is never a reason to add a color and use it in only one place.
