Hey, everyone! I'm pretty new to the model ripping scene...in that before this project I was only able to successfully rip about three models (all simple objects) over the course of as many years. But since I now have more free time than I know what to do with, I've decided to try to do something about the lack of FFCC content out there.
I've managed to rip a number of meshes so far; bones and complete environments are sadly beyond my skill level at the moment. Here's a sampling of what I've got.
Tonberry Chef:
Abaddon:
Raem:
I probably won't be posting the models themselves until I've worked out the kinks; these aren't perfect rips, though some of them (like Raem's) are pretty close. The player character models and the Carbuncle (for some reason) have details that make them difficult to work with, so those will probably come after the monsters, bosses, and other NPCs.
If you rip the Yukes, I will be your loyal servant!
Seriously, I tried ripping them ages ago, but they kept coming out horrible distorted.
Although, a part of me also thinks you should just wait for the remaster coming out...

I've had some trouble with the Yukes myself; they looked all right until I tried to apply the texture, upon which I found that some parts of the mesh were overlapping where they shouldn't have been. That being said, I was able to rip one of them successfully: the Long Beak player character. I'll probably go back and give the others a second attempt at some point.
I'm really looking forward to the remaster (except for the voice acting; if they DARE ruin my childhood memories of Raem...!!!), but I needed SOMETHING CC-related to do during the wait, and I've been really curious about these models for a long time. The fixed camera angles in the game means that getting a good close-up look at some of the monsters is next to impossible, and there are some interesting details that can only be observed by zooming in and giving the models a 360-degree view. Maggie Moschet and Raem are probably my favorite case studies for details that players would barely or never notice; Maggie is not only wearing nail polish but has small tattoos on the backs of her hands that are more or less impossible to see in-game, while Raem's large size combined with the fixed camera means that you'll never get a really good look at his tail or the cool plate armor on his back.
omg yes please! this is not the DS title, correct? I'm a noob when it comes to ripping and think I'd get in the way more than I could possibly help, but I'd love to see the models from the DS one. I'm guessing it's a complete different beast from ripping DS models, but if not please tell me how to do it and I'll tackle it myself even if the result is a bit glitchy. I tried using Tinke but all files are in .ncl.i which I have no idea how to rip. I used Tinke for a different FF title for the NDS but I couldn't do the same with this one...
