Without the black outline, they are not in style - no matter whether you like it better or not.
Anyways, You should smooth all those sprites, not only the one I showed you. Take it as an example.

Wow, I love the angle'd Rick! Cute! lol Just fix his right foot (it sticks downwards too much. )

And, yeah, black outlines are the style! Plus, I think it looks better with a black outline.

For rick, the color is too bland, exept for the yellow, which is way to emphasised.

I don't think Rick is a standout HEY LOOK AT ME kind of character, so I don't see what's wrong with duller colours, but I'll look into that antway.

Several months ago, I attempted a KSSU Gooey, I don't intend on finishing it though, all I got done was the idle animation.

If you don't mind, I'm going to stick with mine.

A Sword and and Character are different while and object might not need a black outline, a character will if you don't follow the styles basic rules, and fix up what we said, you can continue all you want he won't be accepted.
