About a month ago, I tried to upload sprites from the PC Game Nintendo Nightmare. Every sheet was rejected because of this reason:
- "This game does not seem to be notable enough to be worth accepting as it barely returns any search results."
I don't think that this rule should exist. In my eyes, I think that TSR (and all of the other resources) is an archive/ease of use resource for all people to use. I don't think a game should be rejected because they are not notable enough. If these websites are a resource you should have any game of any sort, notable or not. That's like if a library were not to accept a book because they don't know about it.
I don't know if anyone agrees with me on this, but I don't think this rule makes any sense. But that's just what I think.
My condolences. Just move on to greener pastures. Anyplace that spits on your hard work isn't worth being apart of.
I agree, this rule is dumb. Didn't even know it was a thing. VG Resource is like the Internet Archive of game assets. If bootleg games and fangames are allowed here, so should obscure stuff. Mustn't even be that obscure, it has got streamed by Vinny from Vinesauce and has a TVTropes pages for Pete's sake.
I'm guessing this is a server space issue. Ads helps alleviate this problems, but that only works if people actually visit that resource page. Hence why, if its way too obscure, its not really worth it.
In general, I agree. TSR should be an archive for graphics of all sorts. But in practice, there has to be a cutoff. Otherwise we'd be hosting OCs from every person who could do a graphic swap for Super Mario Bros. We've decided on notability and complexity as the bar the game must meet.
That means putting Shrek in Zelda 2, but keeping all the other graphics the same won't count.
Swapping all of the graphics would count.
Also, we don’t accept fan games and bootlegs are a point of contention right now for the same reasons. I get the logic behind assuming we should just accept everything but we’re not just an archive - we’re a resource. The utility of that resource is diminished when it’s flooded with OCs and low-effort hacks.

But this isn't a hack, it's an entire game. I agree that there should be a cap on that sort of thing but when it's an actual, real, finished game I think that rule doesn't really apply to the same level as something like Shrek in Zelda 2.
