Hello everyone! With the new announcement that P4AU (Persona 4 Arena Ultimax) will be returning on modern platforms I was looking into making a learning resource for convenient viewing of hitbox data in discord. One of the main things I want to do is allow users to view the actual move with hitboxes showing, which would better illustrate how the move works.
However, I'm running into a roadblock of extracting and overlaying the actual hitbox data onto the images used for the animation. To be clear, I'm using hipster to save pngs of frames in the move animations and I want to be able to overlay the hitbox locations onto those pngs so that I can create a gif out of those images.
This hitbox data is stored in the col.pac files for each character, but I've yet to find out how to use it how I would like. I've come across a collision editor that handles pac files but unfortunately the images cannot be saved from the program nor does it look like it can export the col.pac data in a readable format.
The forum posts I've read are upwards of 10 years old at this point, and I'm frankly out of my element. Does anyone have any ideas on how I could get this done right? I would greatly appreciate any help so I can start on this project in earnest.
